    Location 1.0 /10

In the Andaman Sea, on the north-east side of Phi Phi Island (province of Krabi), which is around 25 miles south-east from Krabi (consider around 30 minutes via land plus 2h30 by ferry to reach the airport) and around 30 miles south-east of Phuket (consider around 45 minutes via land plus 2h30 by ferry to reach the airport).

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

The 80 bungalows of the Palm Beach Travelodge Resort are divided in two categories (60 superior garden and 20 deluxe seaside); the proximity of the beach determines the price level. Both equipments are similar and include, apart from a good quality bedding, all usual facilities but a direct telephone line: actually, at present there is no underwater telephone cable linking Phi Phi Island to the continent. A good point for the bungalows: the very generous area, which really allows to be comfortable. Bad point: an opacity of the curtains which is quite disappointing and especially a standardised decoration style with no charm, very impersonal, which does not allow the place to be really warm.

    Overview 7.95 /10

Created in 1989 and renovated twice since then (the last time was in 1998), the Palm Beach Travelodge Resort is installed on the vast site of an ancient coconut grove, by the water on the Laemtong Beach, near a small fishing village. It is composed of single floor bungalows, slightly higher than the land level, all built according to the same model, in a relatively anonymous architectural style. Dotted with nice tropical gardens, the common areas are spacious and comfortable. The sport and leisure equipment are numerous, among which there is a diving and water sport centre equipped with all necessary material. Worth mentioning is the very nice Sunset Bar on the hill dominating the back of the hotel, which offers an absolutely splendid viewpoint of the island and surrounding sea.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

Two restaurants provided with two bars are available to the clients of the Palm Beach Travelodge Resort. They serve a well prepared cuisine blending Thai, Chinese and western influences, in a well-ventilated and nice environment with a fancy decoration. A nice outdoor barbecue area, in the immediate proximity of the beach, is open every evening.

    Beach 8.95 /10

The beautiful Laemtong Beach constitutes one of the natural assets of the hotel. Vast and quiet, it is public as a rule, but its isolation, far from the crowds of Ton Sai Bay, makes it virtually "reserved" to the guests of the resort. The water of the Andaman Sea are of a remarkable clarity and quality here; only the level can be slightly insufficient and disappoint the most demanding swimmers. The proximity of a fishing village, where the boats moored by the beach during the day softly rock on the sea, adds a touch of charm to this superb decoration.

    To know

All boat lines serving Phi Phi Island arrive to Ton Sai Bay, and from there you need thirty minutes by long tail boat (the local cab) to reach the hotel via sea (there are no roads on the island). A service from the hotel directly by speedboat is possible, but you have to pay for that.
