Not the most aesthetically pleasing hotel from the outside, with its cubist architecture, the interior is a little better. The lobby is of a fair size and has a gallery looking down to the floor below with its fountain surrounded by trees, creepers hanging down from the high glass roof. Outside at the pool area, which didn't seem to have any parasols worryingly, you'll find two large heated (in winter) pools with a reasonable amount of space around them for sunbathing. Just above, to the far end is a solarium with views all around of the sea and the volcano while next to this to the left is the brand new chill out area. This latter features a couple of wooden structures covered in fabric under which are stylish cushioned sofas allowing guests to look out to sea as they sip on their drink. The kids too have their own space with a fun kids pool complete with slide and fountain as well as the Magic Park kids club, which was completed in summer 2010. This bright, fun and modern space boasts a large flatscreen TV, nicely done murals and a host of games and painting gear to entertain 4-12 year olds. The two English-speaking animators who look after the kids during the day also put on activities for the not so young, including games in and around the pool and sports tournaments for those of a competitive nature. At night there is a professional show which takes place inside on the modest stage. We saw three energetic girls perform a series of fast-paced, light-hearted dance routines which, while not as impressive as some other shows, certainly pleased the crowd. As well as dance shows the hotel also has musicians and singers come in several nights per week. A big plus at the Gala is the spa and fitness centre, accessed by a lift next to the pool area. One of the nicer wellness facilities we saw, it has a good range of massages, facial and body treatments and hydro-massage therapies in its several specialist pools as well as a decently-equipped fitness centre (although there is no water or fruit on hand). Entrance to the wellness centre is 15? and includes use of the pools, sauna, Turkish bath and showers, while the gym is free. Other amenities available at the Gala include a shop with souvenirs and supplies, complimentary wifi in the lobby, coin-operated PCs and a games room with arcade games, a flatscreen television, books and games consoles. Baby sitting is available on request.
