The Iberostar Royal Playa de Palma Hotel is located next to Palma beach in an area full of shops and restaurants. It was built in 1980 and renovated in 2003. Of the 157 guest rooms in the hotel, 40 are double rooms, while the remainder are apartments. The hotel's 6 storeys have either direct or lateral views of the sea. Activities are organised for guests of all ages in the lounges, and the entrance lounge has a glass roof that lets natural light flood in. This, combined with the coloured lighting, gives the place a warm feel. The Royal Playa de Palma has two swimming pools, one of which is a heated indoor pool, the other an outdoor pool. Towels are provided free of charge. In summer, shows are organised on the little stage nearby. Unfortunately, the hotel's design, especially from the front, makes it a pretty unappealing prospect: it is rather reminiscent of a building in a city suburb.
