Amy Adejokun Section editor

The Felip hotel opened its doors at the end of the 19th century. Before that, it was just a little guesthouse that offered accommodation and meals. In fact, it was the first hotel in Porto Cristo. Throughout its 114 years of existence, it has only ever once closed its doors, and this was for renovations in 1996. Located in Porto Cristo's main street facing the port, it benefits from a beautiful view of the sea, which seems to be its only particularity.

    Location 8.38 /10

Located at the centre of Porto Cristo, an old fishing port with a typically Mallorcan atmosphere, the only thing separating the hotel from the port and the beach is a quay. Shops and leisure facilities are not far-off and expect it to take about an hour to get to the airport. The village itself doesn't have much to offer, so it's recommended that visitors hire a car.

    Accommodation 6.20 /10

It is possible to reserve a room with a sea view in the main building, which has a section of room categories boasting such views. Just make sure to specify this when making your booking. In the adjoining building, the guest rooms are smaller (the rooms in the main building are about 1/3 bigger) and very poorly soundproofed. Their furnishings aren't exactly the most recent and the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. As for the bathrooms, they are quite small. Other installations include a small balcony in the annex building and a large terrace with a beautiful sea view in the main building. The mini-bar is extremely expensive and the safe costs 3/day + a 2.60 deposit for the key. On the whole, the rooms aren't really up to scratch, but the view pretty much makes up for this.

    Overview 6.95 /10

This hotel is made up of two adjoining buildings. One of them is on the main road, facing the large beach, and the other is on a tiny little side street behind the main building. The entrance and the reception are somewhat dim and outdated but Wi-Fi access is available in the lobby. The relaxation areas include satellite television, an la carte restaurant, an air-conditioned restaurant, and a bar. Outside, guests will find a tiny swimming pool and a solarium equipped with deckchairs. The hotel's 96 guest rooms are spread across 4 storeys in the two adjoining buildings. Internet access comes at an extra cost. The spa, with its indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, and gym, is in the annex building. Everything here is also quite small and there is an extra charge for massages.

    Food and drink 7.20 /10

The buffet-style food is decent but, in general, does not deserve a 4 star status. Although the choice isn't greatly varied, there is something to satisfy everyone's tastes, with local and international fare. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant enough but the drinks are relatively expensive.

    To know

There is no entertainment at this hotel and the swimming pool isn't great for swimming, as it is really quite small. If you like to keep busy, you should probably choose to stay somewhere else, as Porto Cristo is a relatively boring place.
