Amy Adejokun Section editor

Despite its remote location, this hotel is located on the Kassandra peninsula, which is the most popular area in the Chalkidiki region. However, because it is far from the villages with their bars, it is perfect for people looking for a peaceful holiday away from organised activities, and attracts many families.

    Location 3.0 /10

Located on the first peninsular "arm" of the Chalkidiki region, it takes an hour to reach the hotel from Thessaloniki airport. As the hotel is in an isolated area not far from Cape Possidi, you will need a car to get around the region.

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

The hotel has 124 rooms, including 15 executive suites. The double rooms overlook either the sea or the garden. Some are on the ground floor, but all have a small furnished balcony (tables and chairs). The decor is rather subdued and not very original. Rooms facing the sea are a little smaller. The individual air conditioning allows you to choose the best temperature for you. There are international channels on the television. Each room has a mini-fridge that can be changed to a mini-bar on request. The advantage of the double rooms, which do not in themselves deserve special praise, is the bathroom: relax in the shower with its numerous massage jet functions, a pleasant way to finish off a long day on the beach. Toiletries and a hair-dryer are provided. In the suites, dressing gowns and even a set of scales are provided, so you can monitor the benefits of your Mediterranean diet. Finally, there is a safe in the cupboard (£2.60/day).

    Overview 7.20 /10

This family-run hotel first opened its doors in 1992 (renovated in 2002). It regularly welcomes back the same guests year in, year out - particularly Greeks, Bulgarians, Russians and Germans. The two-storey building is separated from the road by a lawn. There are two swimming pools in front of its right wing: a paddling pool for children, and the graceful, rounded main pool. You can find a place to relax in the shade or in the sun on the nearby patio. There are two tennis courts and an adventure playground for children next to a small Mediterranean pine-wood behind the hotel. The latter is not supervised. Nor is there any kind of mini-club for children. The reception hall has a free wifi connection for use with your own laptop. The staff speaks Greek and English.
There are 4 bars to keep you refreshed. The main one is inside the building, with two more next to the swimming pool. The first of these serves cocktails and snacks from 10.00 am until the evening. The second is a "vitamin bar" where you can customise your own fresh fruit juices. Finally, the beach bar hut opens from 10.30 am till 6.00 pm, serving ice cream, drinks, light cocktails and sweet and savoury goodies.

    Food and drink 6.45 /10

The hotel has two restaurants. The first is in the main building, where half-board meals are served (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast is served as a buffet from 7.30 am to 10.00 am. The choice is varied: coffee, tea, fruit juice and sweet and savoury foods for a standard breakfast, or an American breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes. The half-board dinner is served from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm, and is also a buffet. The evening meals are regularly organised around a particular theme: Italian cuisine, fish dishes, barbecue, etc. The "a la carte" restaurant, the Magnolia, is next to the swimming pool. Fish specialities feature strongly here, but there is also Mediterranean and local food. The dishes, it must be conceded, are nothing special, and the price is a little high for the quality on offer - a meal will set you back around £31, excluding wine. Note that the wines on offer come from the estate of Claudia Papayianni, the owner's second daughter, who owns vineyards inland.

    Beach 7.20 /10

To get to the beach, you will have to cross the road. Although it is not a busy thoroughfare, it is used by cars, so children should be careful. The beach is sandy, with small pebbles at the water's edge. They are smooth and round, so you do not need to wear sandals. The water is just as you would expect in the Aegean Sea: crystal clear! The hotel provides guests with deckchairs and outdoor showers. There is a pretty view over the tip of the bay. But it is a pity the road is so close by...

    To know

There is no shuttle service to the airport, but you can ask reception to organise transport for you. The hotel organizes tours, including mini-cruises around the peninsula.
