On the castle side of the river and next to a tree-filled park on a hill looking over the city, the Atos hotel stands in a quiet street. Its good facilities and reasonable prices make it a place to recommend on this side of the river.

    Location 5.56 /10

On the other side of the Vitava river in the Mala Strana neighbourhood, the Atos hotel is located in a small and peaceful street. On the corner, 15m away, tramway lines will help you to get around the Czech capital. Otherwise, the closest underground stations are around a 10-minute walk away. There are numerous shops, restaurants, and bars in the area. To get to the castle neighbourhood, set aside about 15 minutes on foot, and for a real breath of fresh air, head for the large Stromovka park, where you can take in unobstructed views of the city from the heights of the park.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

All of the establishment's 67 guest rooms are in the Standard category. Good news though: they are all rather big with nice high ceilings. The decoration here is also 'standard', with no special details. It mainly consists of beige colours and cheap wood furniture. Two large windows let in a lot of natural light, creating comfortable surroundings. The amenities are adequate: minibar, CRT television with foreign channels, free cable Internet, but a charged safe. Only showers are available in the bathrooms. Two rooms have been specially designed for guests with reduced mobility.

    Overview 7.20 /10

Opened in 2002, the hotel stands out for its beautiful façade typical of Prague-style architecture. The entrance is distinguished, with wall mouldings and antiques giving it a warm and cosy atmosphere. At the small reception, the staff is energetic and ready to listen. Next to this is a nicely arranged lounge that has you picturing yourself comfortably relaxing with a book and a freshly brewed tea from reception (open 24/7). Otherwise, a large television should satisfy those who would prefer to switch their minds off for a little while. You will notice something curious about the decor: the artificial rock with its bronze heron. Wi-Fi access is free in the lobby. The communal areas are pleasant and the breakfast room is situated in the basement.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

Found in the basement, the breakfast room, with its rustic decor, comes as a surprise after seeing all of the other warmly decorated communal areas. You are guaranteed to feel as though you are in a chalet here! The full buffet includes fruit juices, hot drinks, cereals and hot dishes. Breakfast is included in the price of the room.

The Riverside is one of our favourite accommodation in Prague, as it brings together everything to spend a nice weekend: its location away from the town centre without being off (you can tour the district of Mala Strana from the hotel on foot), its decoration and its groomed service, its rooms, half of whom face the Vltava (the Moldau in Czech).

If you already know Prague and don't want to stay in the town centre (Wenceslas Square), too noisy to your taste, try this hotel in Mala Strana. Its location is quite convenient for a visit to the Castle quarter on foot. If you dislike walking (because the area is a little bit sloped), trams pass just outside the hotel.

Located on a pretty little paved square with a peaceful little garden, the U Pava is something of a Baroque establishment where everyone plays a part in its history. The decor here is like something out of a fairy tale but with a touch of kitsch thrown in, resulting in soft, shadowy light, and a busy decor. The U Pava might not have the most comprehensive list of amenities to offer, but is a romantic destination with a lot of character. Do bear in mind, though, that since there is no lift it's not the best place for those with reduced mobility.

The House of Red Lion is a friendly, family-run hotel located near Mala Strana, a stone's throw from the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Don't expect to find yourself surrounded by the latest decorative features, because the ambiance here feels more like that of a family guest house. It is well looked after, and offers decent accommodation options for families.

The guest rooms are spacious, and the hotel has a bar and a restaurant serving Italian specialities.

The Certovka is on the same side of the river as the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, and admirers of Charles Bridge will also be happy here, as it can be seen from some of the hotel windows. It enjoys a very good location, offers a modest range of amenities and its rooms, which are decorated in a classic, cosy style, are small.

Remember the name of this hotel: you will definitely want to return, at least to dine. Because even if this hotel is not the best in its class, its dinner menu is unusual (steaks of all kinds). As for the rooms, they are pleasant if you love old style; nevertheless, the hotel is well situated.

The setting is historical and the services luxurious, true, but this haven of peace and quiet for the more fortunate has a certain austerity that feels a bit cold.

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
