    Location 8.34 /10

The Leonardo stands in a charming cobbled street in a very peaceful setting very close to the Vltava river. The National Theatre is 50 m away, Charles Bridge is 300 m away, and the Old Town Square, with its famous Astronomical Clock and the spires of the Church of Our Lady before Týn, is just a few minutes' walk away. Rather than opting for the nearest metro station, which is approximately 4 minutes away, why not take the tramway, which runs alongside the Art Nouveau buildings on Masaryk Quay. The airport is 11 mi away, and you should allow 30 minutes for the journey. If you have a car, there is a car park 50 m away from the airport.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The establishment's 82 guest rooms come in several categories: Classic, Superior and Junior Suite. The rooms are spacious, ranging in size from 22 to 28 m², while the Junior Suites boast a surface area of up to 40 m². Some of them overlook the inner courtyard. Although the decor is stylish with its antique furniture, it does look slightly old fashioned, and the walls are bare.
All the amenities you would expect of a hotel of this category are present and correct: individual air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi or wired internet access, a safe and a mini-bar (which is unfortunately not concealed from sight). Additionally, a selection of snacks can be ordered from room service until 11:00pm. The bathrooms stand out thanks to their more modern appearance. They have beautiful black tiling on the floors and most of them are provided with a shower, although some have a separate shower and bathtub. There are no rooms especially adapted for guests with disabilities.

Our accommodation tip: to enjoy views of the river or castle, you will need to book into a Junior Suite.

    Overview 8.45 /10

The Leonardo was transformed into a hotel in 2004, and is located in a fine 15th Century building. Old-world charm is guaranteed from the moment you walk through the entrance and find yourself at the reception of this historical building. There is parquet flooring and classic furniture, and heavy curtains frame the windows and communal spaces, which include a comfortable lounge furnished with big armchairs. Everything is bathed in soft, low lighting. After the reception counter, which displays the twelve signs of the zodiac, there is a rather empty and sparsely decorated room with a vaulted ceiling containing a computer with internet access.
There is a pretty inner courtyard with a fountain, which is furnished so guests can take their breakfast outside. Also, an informal and friendly barbecue is organised once a week. The communal areas provide plenty of space to move around in, and have little recesses where you can put your feet up or enjoy the temporary art exhibitions that are often organised here. The hotel has a restaurant that serves Italian specialities and a bar, open from 11:00am to 11:00pm. The breakfast room is located in the basement.

    Food and drink 7.95 /10

The restaurant, Platina, serves Italian specialities. The owner himself is actually from Italy, so the kitchen is in safe hands. The dining room is located in a room with a vaulted ceiling, walls painted with frescoes and windows overlooking the street. The restaurant can seat up to 60 hotel guests at any one time. From 11:00am to 1:00pm, you can come to the bar for a (strong) coffee or get stuck into one of the delicious pastries on the menu. Breakfast is served from 6:30am until 10:30am in the vaulted underground cellar with exposed stone walls. The buffet spread offers guests a full meal complete with fresh fruit juices, cereals, pastries and a few hot dishes. Breakfast is included in the room price.

    To know

The Leonardo belongs to the Worldhotels group, and is located in a historical building whose foundations date back to the 15th Century. Some of the rooms in the Superior category are provided with a small kitchen.

If you already know Prague and don't want to stay in the town centre (Wenceslas Square), too noisy to your taste, try this hotel in Mala Strana. Its location is quite convenient for a visit to the Castle quarter on foot. If you dislike walking (because the area is a little bit sloped), trams pass just outside the hotel.

Located on a pretty little paved square with a peaceful little garden, the U Pava is something of a Baroque establishment where everyone plays a part in its history. The decor here is like something out of a fairy tale but with a touch of kitsch thrown in, resulting in soft, shadowy light, and a busy decor. The U Pava might not have the most comprehensive list of amenities to offer, but is a romantic destination with a lot of character. Do bear in mind, though, that since there is no lift it's not the best place for those with reduced mobility.

The Hotel Rott is an unpretentious establishment located in the Old Town. It provides a good starting point to discover the sights of Prague, such as the astronomical clock on the wall of the former town hall or the Church of Our Lady before Týn... Don't try to find the latest decorative trends one sees in other hotels, as the style is resolutely classical, sometimes even rustic. Despite a rather arduous journey to get to the guest rooms, the hotel has never lost anyone, or so it claims...

The Certovka is on the same side of the river as the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, and admirers of Charles Bridge will also be happy here, as it can be seen from some of the hotel windows. It enjoys a very good location, offers a modest range of amenities and its rooms, which are decorated in a classic, cosy style, are small.

If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
