This hotel has good comfort and is well-located for not wasting time on public transport; there is a restaurant open for all meals during the day (which is not always the case with hotels in Prague). The hotel has a personal touch that willl definitely win over "book addicts." Kafka used to work at this address before it became a hotel.

    Location 7.28 /10

The hotel is located on Na Porici, a 2 minute walk from the subway station of Namesti Republiky. The Prague Old Town is adjacent to the Atlantic hotel.
The historical sites (the Old City and the Charles Bridge) are within 10 to 15 minutes from the hotel, on foot.
The airport is 10.5 miles away. It takes about 20 minutes to reach it.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

A total of 174 rooms are arranged as follows: a third overlook the inner courtyard (no noise, but no view) and two thirds overlook the street (lively, but the double-glazed windows let you sleep without worry). Each room has limited space (it is a town hotel), so you should book one of the 15 family rooms (2 adults and 2 children), each about 215 ft² (a little more spacious, but not too much, than the double rooms which are 172 ft²). The modern furniture has simple, modest lines and there is soft bedding, upholstery fabrics in discreet colours. The facilities are of good quality: television. Individual air conditioning, a safe for free, a minibar, telephone. In the bathroom, the shower is equipped with a massage handle. More extras: personal complimentary products (1 ounce), Mercury brand aromatherapy label. There is also a hair dryer and a magnifying mirror.

    Overview 7.45 /10

Built in 1890, the building housing the Mercury Old Town is in neo-Renaissance style. The 5-storey building exhibits columns, moldings, statues and stucco friezes. In the interior, various elements reminiscent of the past have been preserved: the wrought iron ramp of the main staircase links the floors as it did in Kafka's time (but there is also an elevator). The rest was renovated at the opening of the hotel in 2002. You will like the modest decor which is not too dull, the furniture showing off the Empire and Louis-Philippe styles. As for the colours, a combination of red and yellow: good for the winter, when the night falls early. You will enjoy admiring the scenery, because there is no gym, no whirpool bath, no massage room. It is a pity, given the quality of the hotel.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

The restaurant has a beautiful terrace for nice days (overlooking the inner courtyard) and two different sections: cosy for breakfast (when there are no crowds), spacious for the other two meals. Lunch or dinner, the same choice of dishes from a menu or a la carte. ?ry the delicious Czech cuisine (roasted duck with red cabbage) or the Mediterranean cuisine (risotto, chicken with gnocchi and roasted eggplant). Both options are good but not exceptional. In a word, it is the breakfast buffet that makes this hotel oustanding. Very copious (various breads!), varied (scrambled eggs, sausages, fruit juices and vegetables - unfortunately not fresh, yoghurt) and even gourmet dishes (smoked salmon). Coffee is served at the table: everything is impeccable...

    To know

This is a hotel dedicated to literature enthusiasts: fans of Kafka, in particular (we are in Prague). The author of The Metamorphosis, who lived on the Golden Lane (the district of the Castle) worked for 14 years in this building. He was not a receptionist, but an insurance officer. His office, located on the second floor, was transformed into a museum room (with photos of Kafka and his circle): this is room 214. You should book this room well in advance, everybody wants it!

    A lodging tip

The double rooms are not very spacious (172 ft²). But they are very comfortable and well sound-proofed (double glazing). Regardless of whether your room overlooks the street or the inner patio, you will hear nothing.
The family rooms have a sofa bed in addition to the double bed. For a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. Attention, like the double rooms, the space is paid.

The Central is both a hotel and one of the key stopovers to set off on a visit to the Art Nouveau quarter in Prague. Admire its façade (particularly at night); once in the lobby, surprise... But those who have an eye will quickly discover this building's history. This hotel is infused with particular refinement, the exact place for fans of boutique hotels.

The Best Western Bila Labut is located just on the edge of the Old Town, near to both the metro and tram lines. Guests who are familiar with the Best Western chain might be a little disappointed with the facilities here, especially the lack of air-conditioning. If you can manage without that, though, the hotel does have other things going for it, like its bar, restaurant and little gym. However, on the whole, the rates are on the expensive side.

The King's Court is one of the newest 5 star hotels to open in the Czech capital. It has taken up residence in a fantastic building in an ideal location close to the metro stations and tram stops, with the Municipal House just opposite. Generously sized and decorated in a modern style, it has fabulous amenities and several different room categories to choose from. However, we were not totally satisfied with the originality of the place, and apart from some flashy details, the finishing touches - the furniture, for example - leave a lot to be desired.

The setting is historical and the services luxurious, true, but this haven of peace and quiet for the more fortunate has a certain austerity that feels a bit cold.

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
