Newer hotels often include modern features in their decor, but few manage to create an appealing harmony between their communal spaces and guest rooms. The Perla enjoys a perfect location a few hundred metres from the centre of the Old Town, and is a real gem for design aficionados to discover.

    Location 9.74 /10

The hotel is in a perfect location in the Old Town, in a quiet little street called Perlova street, meaning 'pearl' in Czech, close to a busy shopping thoroughfare. It is a stone's throw from the famous boulevard, Wenceslas Square, but the whole of the Old Town is within easy reach: the famous Astronomical Clock, the second biggest church in Prague, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, access to Charles Bridge and the banks of the Vltava are all within 500 metres. Guests will soon discover all of Prague's secrets if they stay here. In terms of public transport, the closest metro station, Mustek, is 100 metres away at the corner of the street, and the tram stops are just a little further away.

    Accommodation 7.95 /10

The 64 guest rooms are all in the same category. Their style, which continues in the same modern, designer vein already seen in the communal spaces, gives an original and attractive finish. There is fake parquet on the floor, and the room is adorned with mirrors, exotic furniture, and photographs displaying pearls hang above the headboard of the bed. All this helps you get over the rather small dimensions of the rooms, which average between 16m² and 20m². The furniture has been carefully selected, and all the amenities are in place: there is a free safe, a wide-screen television opposite the bed, free Wi-Fi internet access, individual air-conditioning, etc. Even the bed sheets have been treated to reduce the risk of allergy. The little bathrooms are particularly nice, done out in trendy black and equipped - for the most part - with a bathtub and a hair-dryer. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and room service operates until 11:00pm.

Accommodation advice: Groups of 3 might like to check into one of the rooms on the corner of the building, as they are bigger and very bright.

    Overview 8.20 /10

The number of hotels in Prague has exploded since 2000, and like many of them, the Perla is located in a converted former office building. The establishment opened in 2007, offering a combination of design and exoticism. From Perlova street, you can see into the lobby through the big picture windows and get an idea of the style of the place: the reception counters resemble nacreous pearls, while a wall seat and a few other features add an Asian dimension, and at the back is a window displaying Chinese calligraphy.
The building is 5 storeys tall, and the rooms are reached along long, modern corridors with yellow walls, fitted carpets underfoot, and stylish lighting. The hotel is fully accessible to people with disabilities. There is an internet area on each floor, and food and drink dispensers in the corridors make up for the fact there are no mini-bars in the rooms. On one of the higher floors there is a very nicely decorated bar, which opens from 11:00am to 1:00am and is also used as the breakfast room. The hotel basement has been converted into a very well-equipped gym, and there is also a sauna. Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the hotel. It does not have a car park.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

Breakfast is served in a very pretty room that also serves as the bar. It is a designer space that successfully combines the lighting above the counter, wooden rods on the ceiling, and large windows overlooking the street. Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 10:30am, and there is room to seat 50 guests. The buffet spread offers a comprehensive meal complete with fresh fruit juices, cereals, pastries and cakes, and a few hot dishes. We would heartily recommend you give it a try. The bar is open from 11:00am to 1:00am.

The Hotel Rott is an unpretentious establishment located in the Old Town. It provides a good starting point to discover the sights of Prague, such as the astronomical clock on the wall of the former town hall or the Church of Our Lady before Týn... Don't try to find the latest decorative trends one sees in other hotels, as the style is resolutely classical, sometimes even rustic. Despite a rather arduous journey to get to the guest rooms, the hotel has never lost anyone, or so it claims...

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
