If you already know Prague and don't want to stay in the town centre (Wenceslas Square), too noisy to your taste, try this hotel in Mala Strana. Its location is quite convenient for a visit to the Castle quarter on foot. If you dislike walking (because the area is a little bit sloped), trams pass just outside the hotel.

    Location 5.72 /10

On Ujezd, just below Mala Strana, 10 minutes on foot from the Andrel subway station. To reach the Old City, take the tram (5 minutes). Mala Strana and the Castle quarter can be visited on foot from the hotel. The airport is 10.5 miles away. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach it.

    Accommodation 7.45 /10

The rooms are located throughout the building overlooking the street and another, which was opened in 2003, in the rear of the building is linked to the first building by a covered walkway. There are 87 rooms in all, including 30 overlooking the street and - most importantly - the park of Mala Strana, which is just opposite. Ask for a room in this part, and if possible, in one of the 8 rooms with antique furniture. Is it complete? So, the view focuses on the inner courtyard or on the alley lined up with traditional buildings. A quiet and quite picturesque sight, even though not panoramic. The size of the rooms vary, a double room is approximately 215 ft². 19 rooms are for 3 people; there are 5 apartments with a kitchen (oven, sink, refrigerator), which can accommodate up to 4 persons. In the bathrooms, the following: a shower or a bathtub (the presence of a bathtub ensures more space), a hair dryer and small "Bienvenue Paris" personal skin care products. The remaining facilities include a television, a safe, air conditioning and telephone, a minibar. A kit for tea / coffee can be added upon request. As for the non-antique furniture, it is made of light plywood and in minimalist design.

    Overview 7.20 /10

The Roma hotel is located in a nice 3-storey Baroque-style building. The façade is painted yellow and the walls are white: this outlook is consistent with the allure of the district, Mala Strana, which is a "village" in Prague. The entrance does not extend directly to the reception area, but into a covered gallery where you can find a clothing boutique on one side and a tourist information centre on the other. After passing through the smoked glass sliding door, a disappointment waits for you: you find youself in the lobby of a hotel which has none of the attraction of its façade. Leather sofas at the bar to the side, the reception desk looks like a counter at the airport and the wall that closes the lobby is decorated with an aquarium where a small black shark is bored and swims with some clownfishes. That being said, the hotel has a fitness room which is accessible at no extra charge; this is worth noting as the availability of such facility is not commonplace in Prague.

    Food and drink 6.95 /10

The catering service is limited to breakfast. The room overlooks (as some rooms) the interior courtyard: the advantage is that, for six months or almost, tables can be set up to dine outside. The buffet serves hot and cold dishes. Scrambled eggs, sausages, cheese, cold cut, yogurt, cereals, bread and cuts of fruit, you can feast until the evening. A machine has espresso and cappucino coffees. After breakfast, the bar opens, but beverages only are available. It closes at 10 PM.

    To know

There is no daytime restaurant service at the hotel, but just a sidewalk away, on the same side of the street, you will find a sandwich shop that serves quiches and desserts. To eat more typical food, take the street which takes you to the Castle. After the first square, turn left: a good tavern is found at this point.
    A lodging tip
Eight rooms have old furniture. They are a nice choice for their charming appearance, however they are not more spacious than the rest of the lodgings.
For families, there are 19 triple rooms.
If more people need to be accommodated or if you plan to extend your stay over the weekend, reserve an apartment with a kitchen. There are 5, each for 4 people.

The Riverside is one of our favourite accommodation in Prague, as it brings together everything to spend a nice weekend: its location away from the town centre without being off (you can tour the district of Mala Strana from the hotel on foot), its decoration and its groomed service, its rooms, half of whom face the Vltava (the Moldau in Czech).

Located on a pretty little paved square with a peaceful little garden, the U Pava is something of a Baroque establishment where everyone plays a part in its history. The decor here is like something out of a fairy tale but with a touch of kitsch thrown in, resulting in soft, shadowy light, and a busy decor. The U Pava might not have the most comprehensive list of amenities to offer, but is a romantic destination with a lot of character. Do bear in mind, though, that since there is no lift it's not the best place for those with reduced mobility.

The House of Red Lion is a friendly, family-run hotel located near Mala Strana, a stone's throw from the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Don't expect to find yourself surrounded by the latest decorative features, because the ambiance here feels more like that of a family guest house. It is well looked after, and offers decent accommodation options for families.

The Certovka is on the same side of the river as the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, and admirers of Charles Bridge will also be happy here, as it can be seen from some of the hotel windows. It enjoys a very good location, offers a modest range of amenities and its rooms, which are decorated in a classic, cosy style, are small.

Remember the name of this hotel: you will definitely want to return, at least to dine. Because even if this hotel is not the best in its class, its dinner menu is unusual (steaks of all kinds). As for the rooms, they are pleasant if you love old style; nevertheless, the hotel is well situated.

Here, we recommend the accommodation units that occupy the more recent building. This is a modern establishment built around a covered and furnished interior courtyard. However, one down side is that you have to climb the entire upward sloping Neruda street before you can finally set down your luggage.

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
