The best thing about this hotel? Not its location (the district is not in the historic quarter of Prague). Nor its restaurant service (after breakfast, you can not have anything more). But it is its small fitness gym where you can laze around graciously in the whirlpool bath after your visit to Prague.

    Location 7.03 /10

On Tyrsova in Nove Mesto (the New Town). The IP Pavlova subway station is within 5 minutes on foot. The Wenceslas Square is 10 minutes away and the Old Town is 20 minutes distant on foot. The airport is 11 miles away. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach it.

    Accommodation 6.45 /10

The 56 rooms overlook the street or the courtyard behind the building (only 12 of the rooms). The sizes of the rooms are quite reasonable without being too spacious: the double rooms are about 194 ft². The lacquered wood furniture is inspired by the styles of Baroque and Art Nouveau. The walls are white (it definitely illuminates the room and creates an impression of space). As for the amenities, everything you need is available: television, a safe available for free, a minibar (paid of course), air conditioning and telephone. In the bathroom, there is a bathtub in only 5 rooms, while the others have a shower. No personal skin care products are available, just a soap. But the hotel has thought about providing a hair dryer.

    Overview 6.95 /10

The Saint George dates back to the beginning of this century: it opened in 2000. On the outside, the 5-storey building is reminiscent of a cake glazed with sugar; on the inside, you will find yourself in a baroque setting. The ambiance is pleasant, not excessive. A small reception with a lounge area, a brightly lit bar at the end of the corridor. Green plants and symbolist paintings on the wall. There you have the decor. Add the fitness gym, small but yet welcoming: in the same room there are a sauna cabin, a whirlpool bath, a treadmill, a bicycle, wall bars, a weight machine and a mat. There is just space enough to move among the various elements. Go to the wh?rlpool bath its use is free (unlimited time).

    Food and drink 6.20 /10

At the Saint George, you can have breakfast only. The dining room is located in the basement and therefore it does not have an outside view. Divided into two sections (smoking and non-smoking), it serves a cold buffet in the morning: deli meats and cheese, yogurts, cereals, fruits, pastries, buns, orange juice in carton. The coffee is not served at the table, you have to fill your cup from the coffee machine. From 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., the bar allows you to have a drink but, alas, does not serve food. For lunch and dinner, visit the Wenceslas Square (fast food restaurants) or the Old Town Square (a few good taverns in the basement).

    To know

The Saint George is one of the few hotels in Prague (excluding 4 and 5 star) that have leisure facilities: do not hesitate (especially as they are free).
    A lodging tip
Choose one of the 12 rooms overlooking the rear court. Even if the windows are double glazed, you can still hear the traffic noise from the street.

The Tchaikovsky is a great little place for those looking for some rustic charm and who are not too concerned with the available facilities. The rates are reasonable and the guest rooms very large. Although the hotel might not be centrally located, the main tourist hub of Wenceslas Square is barely a 15 minute walk away. The Vltava River also runs past the end of the street.

Beyond the imposing façade of the Beranek hotel, set back from Wenceslas Square, lies an impersonal establishment that is entirely devoid of charm. This really couldn't be further from the image which usually springs to mind of this incredibly romantic city. Apart from the dreadfully ordinary communal areas, the guest rooms are nevertheless decent enough but expensive for the level of service provided. It is good to know that the hotel has its own car park, which is nothing to sniff at in a city where parking can be a nightmare.

The Mandarin Oriental, one of the best establishments in the city, has the advantage of being located away from the crowds of tourists but is still close to some of the must-see sights. The setting is historical and the services luxurious, true, but this haven of peace and quiet for the more fortunate has a certain austerity that feels a bit cold.

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
