A welcoming drink is offered upon arrival, the minibar is available for free in the rooms... At the Savoy, they know how to welcome you. And as you stay in a quiet place, far from the town centre but close to the cultural sites, you may feel as if you are in the countryside (Mala Strana park is a 5 minute walk away). Not for the nightbirds, but peaceful couples will be treated like small royalties.

    Location 4.08 /10

This hotel is located in the Castle district, a 5 minute walk away from Strahov Monastery. No subway station is close at hand, but a tram line will get you to the Old City in 15 minutes. The airport is 10.5 miles away. It takes about 30 minutes to reach there.

    Accommodation 8.45 /10

Are you used to plundering the mini-bar? Help yourself: this is included in the room's price, whatever the class of accommodation. In addition, it is not necessary to measure your strides. An area of 322 ft² in a standard room (probably called "deluxe" for that reason). The hotel offers a total of 61 lodgings: avoid coming along your football club and fans, this is not the style of the hotel. Turn on the TV: you can select from 14 channels. In the bathroom: personal Country Garden complimentary toiletries are carefully arranged next to the sink (as they are of similar size in the rooms and suites, do not envy the "higher class" rooms). The bathroom in each room has a bathtub and a separate shower, bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer - this is the life of a master! You sleep in a cosy bed after locking up your valuable belongings in the safe (for free), asking for a wake-up call at the reception and adjusting the room temperature (heating or air conditioning).

    Overview 7.95 /10

The Savoy is on the high slopes of the Castle: what may be a disadvantage (the Old Town is within 15 minutes by tram) can turn into an advantage. You have quiet lodging and can set out on foot for a stroll in Mala Strana (one of the most beautiful parts of Prague). The interior, the ambiance more reminiscent of British than Prague style (the library lounge offers chairs upholstered in tartan), and it is very "cosy". This place is perfect for those who like to feel at home in a hotel. To add to what makes you feel at home, there is a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam bath and a fitness room: all are available for free. The fitness centre is not a sports club (the equipments are quite crammed). So much the better, as you would not shoulder with the crowd. You can book a massage at the spa centre (extra charge).

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

Dining outdoors during good weather: the restaurant room, used mainly during winter, will not leave you disappointed either. There is a little trick here: the glass ceiling can be opened and the walls can be lowered to half. The ambiance reminiscent of the end of the 19th century is accomplished with a fine collection of old paintings. A pianist plays for customers from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. Yum, yum, the menu offers Czech specialties that are worth tasting (such as the potato soup), excellent meat dishes in sauce (pork, chanterelle sauce) and a touch of "nouvelle cuisine" (duck in tea sauce). And if you eat nothing but the breakfast, do not regret it: served buffet style, there is salmon (smoked and marinated), fluffy scrambled eggs and fresh bread, kept warm, among many other delicacies.

    To know

The Savoy has been a member of the Leading Small Hotels of the World since 2001.
From the hotel, you can visit Hradcany (the Castle district) and Mala Strana on foot. It must be seen - only 5 to 15 minutes on foot: Strahov Monastery (with its superb library with decorated rooms, including a part with frescoes and a part with stucco friezes) and Loreta Church (with its treasure of lithurgical objects encrusted with metal and precious stones, including a masterpiece decorated with more than 6,000 diamonds).
    Advice on lodging
It does not harm just this once: there is no need to ask for a room of higher category or a suite to get more space, services and tranquility. The "standard" rooms offer 322 ft² and overlook the quiet streets of the neighbourhood or the rooftops of the buildings adjacent to the hotel, and finally attention, it includes beverages and snacks of minibar.

If you already know Prague and don't want to stay in the town centre (Wenceslas Square), too noisy to your taste, try this hotel in Mala Strana. Its location is quite convenient for a visit to the Castle quarter on foot. If you dislike walking (because the area is a little bit sloped), trams pass just outside the hotel.

U Krale Karla is the perfect fairytale setting for those who fancy a journey back in time to the Middle Ages and an insight into religious art. Its limited number of guest rooms makes it a rather exclusive destination where tranquillity and pleasure are top priorities. The rooms themselves are large and the services provided perfectly decent but not over the top. Do bear in mind that despite the view of the castle used to sell the establishment in the brochure, it's actually more like a view of the surrounding wall and foundations. Nevertheless, this is still the sort of place you could easily fall in love with.

The House of Red Lion is a friendly, family-run hotel located near Mala Strana, a stone's throw from the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Don't expect to find yourself surrounded by the latest decorative features, because the ambiance here feels more like that of a family guest house. It is well looked after, and offers decent accommodation options for families.

A hotel suitable for a stay outside the town centre without being too far from it either. It has a splendid view of Prague. In addition, the hotel has sports facilities, as it often hosts groups (for seminars and conferences). Comfort, service, and rooms neutraly decorated. Appropriate for this category of chain hotels.

Remember the name of this hotel: you will definitely want to return, at least to dine. Because even if this hotel is not the best in its class, its dinner menu is unusual (steaks of all kinds). As for the rooms, they are pleasant if you love old style; nevertheless, the hotel is well situated.

The Mandarin Oriental, one of the best establishments in the city, has the advantage of being located away from the crowds of tourists but is still close to some of the must-see sights. The setting is historical and the services luxurious, true, but this haven of peace and quiet for the more fortunate has a certain austerity that feels a bit cold.

Located on the side of the Mala Strana, and a stone's throw from the Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, the Neruda is a pretty establishment. Here, we recommend the accommodation units that occupy the more recent building. This is a modern establishment built around a covered and furnished interior courtyard. However, one down side is that you have to climb the entire upward sloping Neruda street before you can finally set down your luggage.

The Ventana hotel is ideally located at the heart of the Old Town and is a charming little place providing high-quality, low-capacity accommodation. The modern and elegant decor of this uncharacteristic hotel is sure to win you over, particularly when you take into account the original facilities, which include Duplex rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people and afford beautiful views across the rooftops of the city. If we had to find fault, it would be that the minimalist decor in the guest rooms leaves them rather characterless.
