Opened in 2003 and renovated in 2009, the Punta Cana Princess shows great respect for its surroundings, as seen in the vast grounds that boast lush tropical vegetation (including a natural mangrove), and the numerous palm trees and coconut trees that cover the entire area all the way down to the beach. Peacocks can be seen strutting around the ponds, among the Travellers' Palms. The Metamorphosis spa occupies part of the neighbouring Tropical Princess, and boasts a clever layout among the pastoral exotic gardens (which feature fountains, ponds, waterfalls, stone bridges, etc.). It is open between 8:00am and 8:00pm and boasts 9 massage parlours, of which 3 are especially for couples (using cosmetic products from the German brand Babor), Vichy showers, a relaxation area, a sauna, Turkish baths and an outdoor jacuzzi. The reception area at the spa centre features a nice little fish tank. In addition, guests of the Punta Cana Princess may enjoy the facilities of the Metamorphosis mini-spa, which faces the beach and opens from 9:00am to 5:00pm. It includes a jacuzzi, two double cabins made from thatched straw, and a small garden where you can recline in a wooden deckchair with a mattress, in the shade of a mango tree. The guest rooms occupy five 2-storey buildings, brightly painted in dark pink, blue and Creole-style yellow. They feature red brickwork and palapas roofs, and are located along beautiful flower-lined paths dotted with Traveller's trees and featuring amazing Taíno sculptures (pelican- or turtle-shaped totems). The establishment also boasts a vast lagoon swimming pool that is designed to look like a beach and stays open from 9:00am to 9:00pm. You can also play volleyball here or enjoy various cocktails at its aquatic bar. The whole area is surrounded by a large solarium terrace with showers, towels, deckchairs with double mattresses, and palm-leaf parasols, making for a very calm and relaxed atmosphere.
