This complex stands on the heights of Vliha and resembles a Medieval village that you just can't miss with its high towers. The resort offers all the necessary activities and amenities for a successful family holiday, however, its original architecture contrasts dramatically with its interior decoration, which is very similar to that of other hotels' on the island...

    Location 6.96 /10

The Iberostar Lindos Royal is located on the island's east coast, 2 and a half mi only from the famous village and acropolis of Lindos, 27 mi from Rhodes city centre and 30 mi from the international airport. Access to the airport is gained via the beautiful main road, south of the capital city. The hotel has direct access to the public beach (located down below, 330 ft away) and a small private 'creek', without a beach, unfortunately. It is ideal though if you just want to dive into the sea!

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

The complex holds a total of 274 rooms spread out over 8 buildings: 69 standard rooms, 32 junior suites, 131 family rooms, 10 suites and 32 small houses. They are all equipped with three or four beds, a satellite television, a telephone, a safe available for a fee, air-conditioning and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub or a shower and a hair-dryer. The decoration varies from one room to the next - all of them have a contemporary style and let enough light in to make it a prominent feature. They all open onto a balcony or a terrace - an invitation to admire the view of the Aegean sea or the pool.

    Overview 7.45 /10

The classic façade and the hotel lobby (made of marble, as usual) contrast dramatically with the Medieval architecture that you can see when you step outside. The setting is similar to that of an amusement park, which trys to both distinguish itself from the rest and provide entertainment for the kids! When you want to cool down, you will be spoilt for choice: there is a large pool, a small creek accessible via a stairway and a large public beach down below. This refreshing oasis becomes very busy (and quite noisy) in the summer though. The basketball and volleyball courts, however, (which are not as new as they once were), did not seem overly busy when we visited! The hotel also has a shopping area with a supermarket, a hairdresser and a boutique, as well as a wellness centre with massage rooms.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

The Iberostar's menu is interesting as it manages to blend international dishes, Greek specialities and Asian gastronomy (Chinese, Thai and Indian). All three meals of the day are served at the main restaurant inside the hotel, set up under some sort of patio. Make sure not to reserve a room next to the restaurant as the noise of the knives and forks may wake you up in the wee small hours of the morning! A terrace gives you the opportunity to have your meal outside while enjoying the sunshine and the view of the pool. Guests can also order snacks from the pool bar, open from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Specialised in wines and spirits, cocktails and combination drinks, the Royal Lobby Bar will give you the chance to have a pleasant evening while tasting traditional Greek ouzo!

    Beach 6.70 /10

A road (beware of the cars!) leads the way to the large beach down below. Washed by crystal-clear water, the beach could be perfect if it wasn't covered with deckchairs and parasols! As with many nearby resorts, everything has to be paid for - from deckchairs to the numerous water sports activities offered by the independent club. If you want to enjoy the beach without all the expense, go down to the little private creek. Although you can't really stay there for too long, the direct access to the sea is a charming option...

    To know

Like most of the other hotels, the Iberostar Lindos Royal offers the choice between half-board and all-inclusive. The latter enables you to have snacks, drinks or ice creams non-stop from 10:00am to 12 midnight. Many activities will punctuate your stay (volleyball, table tennis, aquagym, dance lessons, aerobics, football, etc.) and your evenings (theme nights and mini-discos).

Despite its beachfront location, the Club Jumbo still feels cut off from the outside world. However, it is an undeniably friendly hotel with a truly delightful staff. Originally known as the Sunrise, this hotel was designed for families and provides a great setting for children, despite its relative lack of facilities. This isn't too much of a problem though, as guests tend to spend most of their time around the pool, which, it has to be said, is rather small for the number of rooms.

Thirty years-old and not one wrinkle! When you walk into the Lindos Bay, you would not guess that the foundations of the building date from the 1970's, although a few discreet details do betray its age - the upstairs carpet for example. It has to be said, though, that the hotel was entirely renovated in 2007 and is now as shiny as a new penny. Indeed, this newly renovated hotel boasts a decidedly contemporary style as far as the rooms and amenities are concerned. There is even a spa, which makes up for the lack of activities here. It has the ability to make couples, or any guest looking to relax, feel as comfortable and 'at home' as can be.

This was definitely our favourite place to stay in Rhodes! Built to resemble a small Greek village, the Lindian Village is a beautiful boutique hotel where we would be happy to spend many holidays. It certainly deserves its position as one of 'The Leading Hotels of the World'. Originally opened in 2005, the hotel operates during the summer period, from April to October. It is a pleasure to walk along its narrow paths bordered with flowers and leading straight to the sea. The clientele is composed mainly of European couples, and children are welcome but there are no facilities provided for them.
