    Location 3.93 /10

The Apollo Beach is located in the centre of the seaside resort of Faliraki on the eastern coast of the island, 9 miles from the beautiful medieval city of Rhodes and 3 miles from the village of Afandou where you can find an international golf course, dotted with olive trees.
Faliraki is the most famous holiday place on the island, literally on the water, giving access to numerous seaside activities, but has no sailing sports. Benefiting from a dry climate and little wind, the resort is inundated with sunlight as late as October. No pebble on the beach to mar your stay here. A luxury for the island, which is 90% bordered by pebbles! In the evening, the resort comes alive with nightlife and you can choose between the pleasure of having a good meal in one of the many taverns along the sea, the unbridled rhythms of the bars, or even walkways along the beach. It is easy to find a vehicle at the many shops that rent scooters, motorcycles or cars. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the city of Rhodes and 30 minutes to reach the airport. As for shopping, souvenir shops are almost everywhere, in full swing, particular during summer, where you come across a clientele of mainly Germans and Englishmen, and few Italians.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

The hotel offers 310 rooms housed in the two main buildings on four floors, with elevators. The corridors, although bright, are a little too long. Small and modestly equipped with modern wooden furniture, all rooms are provided with telephone (direct dial for international calls), cable television, radio, a refrigerator (empty), individually regulated air conditioning, a bathtub, a hairdryer. Towels are supplied well enough. The walls are painted snow white, but deserve some decoration.

    Overview 6.70 /10

Opened in 1974 and renovated in 2003, the hotel has a modern architecture that matches very well with the original structure of the facility. You would enjoy the lush vegetation, unlike all its neighbouring hotels. Well-maintained, it is composed of two four-storey imposing buildings that, unfortunately, hide the view of the surrounding mountains. Its big advantage: the broad green gardens, bordering the beachfront, arranged with numerous deckchairs, huddled in the shade of straw huts, near a large playground for children. No mini-bar. However, the access to the beach from the swimming pool is a bit far. Unfortunately, it lacks particular charm.

    Food and drink 7.95 /10

With three restaurants and four bars, you will have plenty of choices. The main restaurant, which can accommodate up to 500 people, is self-service, and offers a delicious menu for breakfast and dinner. For lunch, you can dine at the snack bar near the swimming pool, open continuously from 10 AM to 11 PM. But the neighbouring hotels guests can also eat there. Once a week, a Greek party is organised for the hotel guests. Furthermore a grill restaurant serves local and international cuisine.

    Beach 7.70 /10

The hotel enjoys the use of the vast sandy beach on the bay of Faliraki stretching as far as the eye can see, almost a mile distant. There are no pebbles, and specifically on this part of the bay surrounded by a strip of fine sand. The sand is dark, not always properly cleaned despite the large bins nearby. Showers and deckchairs made of iron and plastic are arranged on the beach, framed by long paths of wooden crossbeams. Remember that the deckchairs are rented, about ? 3 per half-day... And, from this point of view, all resorts in the area operate in this manner. Customers can access the sailing club of the beach near the hotel for extra charge, as it is entirely private and has no commercial agreement with the Apollo Beach.

    To know

The hotel is located in the centre of the famous seaside resort of Faliraki, a stone's throw from the bustling bars, restaurants and nightclubs that animate the night. A 1,640-foot alley, surrounded by pine forests, seems to protect the facility from the bustle around it. Note that an amusement centre, Luna Park, is adjacent to the hotel. You can even see the ferris wheel from the hotel parking lot. The lush green spaces succeed in isolating the hotel from the noise around it. But during the high tourist season, in summer, we cannot say that quietness and peace are watchwords for this place. Yet, the place has access to all the pleasures of the resort, including various water sports. Note that all neighbouring resorts (fifteen in total) share the same public beach which is, fortunately, immense. It is rare to find a hotel with a private beach in Rhodes.

The Louis Colossos Beach is a (colossal!) 742 room hotel, 7 mi from the ancient site of the extremely famous Colossus of Rhodes. However, while this wonder of the world only stood for around 60 years, the hotel itself is well set to continue accommodating guests on its 7 floors for years to come... Built some twenty years ago, although the hotel has been updated it lacks somewhat in originality.

If you are having doubts about wearing your flip-flops at the Blue Sea Hotel, the giant aquariums in the lobby (and the fish they contain) will certainly clear that up for you, and, if that's not enough, the views of beautiful Faliraki beach will leave you in no doubt. Located just a few miles from the seaside resort itself and around ten minutes from Rhodes Town, the Blue Sea is a clean and comfortable club-hotel with simple yet modern decor.

The Kalithea Mare Palace is located opposite Cape Bodi in an elevated position that offers several unobstructed sea views. The hotel does not have its own beach but shares one with its neighbour, the Kalithea Horizon Royal. The two establishments also have the same reception. The clientele is mostly made up of Germans. Guests don't come here for a quiet and relaxing stay but rather to do some socialising. Given the limited space around the swimming pool, you will probably get to know your neighbours! However, while you are bound to make some acquaintances here, the facilities are disappointing.

In addition to sharing the reception with the Kalithea Mare Palace, guests staying at the Kalithea Horizon Royal can access its neighbour's amenities for no additional charge. However, there is no denying that the Horizon Royal offers a better set of facilities; for example, larger spaces around the swimming pools. Indeed, space is one of the qualities found in abundance at the hotel, but the resulting distances can be trying under the hot sun... To make up for this drawback, a shuttle does the rounds of the hotel on a daily basis, but only during the daytime. Most of the guests staying at the hotel are families, partly because children are well looked after here.

The 5* Ixian Grand was built in 1978 and underwent a complete makeover in 2007, which makes it hard to believe that it is over 30 years old! The new incarnation is designed to a contemporary, designer template. Just a few feet from the beach, the hotel has few sports facilities and not much in the way of organised entertainment and activities. It is therefore best suited to couples without children, or families passing through.
