The Clarion Hotel is an upscale hotel in the centre of town which boasts a particularly modern decor. As far as facilities are concerned, it has a sauna, a choice of restaurants and a bar, but not much else! This is a real pity, as a swimming pool would have made the hotel a 'must', even for the most demanding customers, especially those who book a Deluxe room (which has a sauna in the room).

The hotel is situated right in the centre of Rovaniemi and is surrounded by numerous shops, restaurants and supermarkets. It is located 4 mi away from the airport, 5 mi from the Ounasvaara ski resort and only some 300ft away from the departure point of the snowmobile safaris.
The hotel has 169 rooms over 5 floors. The Deluxe rooms are on the top floor, where guests benefit from the best views! Every floor has a specific colour, probably to prevent guests from walking into the wrong room. Standard rooms are 230 sq ft, superior rooms are 330 sq ft and there is a sauna in the bathroom of the Deluxe rooms. The choice is yours!
As far as the interior decor is concerned, there is not much to be said as it is the same throughout the establishment, style and design dominate. Parquet flooring, twin or double beds, red seats, high ceilings, round mirrors; you will have the impression of being in a trendy boutique. As far as facilities are concerned, there is nothing to be disappointed about here: there is a minibar, a safe, a television, air-conditioning, an ironing board, a hair-dryer and a big wardrobe. As for the bathrooms, they are comfortable and have a bathtub, dressing gowns, a towel warmer and a large mirror in which you can admire yourself all day long. The Deluxe rooms are more spacious and have two supplementary single beds to accommodate the entire family.
The Clarion occupies a big modern building and its guests are welcomed into a setting that mixes modern with chic. This can be seen in the red pillars that match the carpets, the marble floors, the leather sofas and large wooden reception desk, and the sound of jazz music being played. You will see that the outside temperature is constantly displayed on a screen and, more often than not, one chooses to stay indoors.
On the fifth floor there are two saunas. One is for men, the other for women and both are open from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. These saunas have the added particularity of having a window which offers a breathtaking view over the city.
Food and drink
On the first floor there are two adjoining restaurants with two different atmospheres. Both have chic interiors though, with beige fabrics on the velvet seats, upholstered benches and the walls (with woodwork to add a little charm). In terms of restaurant facilities, expect to be served fine and delicious cuisine in somewhat lavish surroundings. A single dish costs around ?20 and you will spend some ?40 for a three-course meal. However, there is a more modern restaurant close by which is decorated in red and black, with original lighting, large spaces and more affordable prices, although these are still quite high. On the ground floor there is a bar decorated in a modern style with a bay window that looks out onto a shopping street - in the summer, a terrace is installed on that pedestrian street. In the evening, the bar attracts quite a crowd and gamblers can be seen gathering around the black-jack table.
The hotel has a car park but it costs a fortune: ?15 per day. The bedding in the rooms has, for the most part, been treated against allergies. You will have to pay for Internet access in your room, but in the reception area a computer connected to the Internet is available for guests free of charge.

This is the oldest and largest hotel in Rovaniemi, attracting a mixture of business travellers from around the world and many locals who visit on the weekend for the restaurant, bar and nightclub. It is the ideal place to come to party, safe in the knowledge that your room is just a few minutes away and you can head off to bed whenever you like.
This is a small hotel in the city centre. Aptly named the City Hotel, it is a cosy place where you will feel at home. Families of three will appreciate the 3-bed rooms, with their simple comforts and pleasant decor.
The Cumulus is a family-run hotel in the city centre. It is so friendly, you quickly feel at home. Guests who like to meet new people will be delighted by the warmth, comfort and cosy atmosphere of the place.
The retro ambience you'll feel as soon as you arrive at this somewhat outdated hotel immediately gives it a strong identity. Renowned for its panoramic restaurant, voted the 10th best in Finland, the hotel also boasts in-room saunas in the majority of its rooms, as well as a friendly atmosphere that will immediately make you feel right at home.
Recommended for families and couples who are looking for a little privacy but who are not interested in self-catering accommodation, the Ounasvaaran Pirtit, which opened in 1985 and was renovated in 2008, offers a series of apartments, complete with their own saunas, and a welcoming communal area where guests get the opportunity to make more new friends than they might anticipate. In a nutshell, this hotel offers very pleasant surroundings where guests can enjoy the benefits of the hotel without having to put up with any of the drawbacks.
