Located in Sables d'Or, the most "chic" of the seaside resorts on the eastern coast, the Bolero is a club hotel which provides a very good standard of comfort and many facilities. This is one of the best hotels in the resort and is suitable for both families and elderly guests.

    Location 7.0 /10

Varna airport is only 17 mi away. Transfer time to the hotel is rather short and therefore more pleasant. The Bolero is located in the middle of a lively seaside resort that is very popular with tourists: Sable d'Or. There are several cafés, boutiques and restaurants in the resort. Guests have the opportunity to take lovely walks by day or by night.

Given the standard of the hotel, we would have liked to have had direct access to the beach. Right now the beach is a few minutes' walk away across a road.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

There are 297 bedrooms in the hotel complex. As far as the standard rooms are concerned, it is true that they are comfortable and spacious, although no effort has been made with the decor. It is all rather depressing and, with regard to the fittings, there is a large wardrobe (practical for storing all the family's clothes), although the shelves are too high for you to be able to use them, and the sliding doors don't work very well. On the other hand, the bathroom is surprising. It is even more pleasant and more welcoming than the bedroom itself: beautiful decor in shades of beige and brown, an exotic style and brand new fashionable furniture. There is an international direct-dial telephone line, satellite television, and a mini-bar as extras.

    Overview 7.70 /10

Opened in 2005, the Bolero is a large modern hotel with three buildings offering a multitude of services. The hotel is characterised by modern architecture that is easy on the eye. The entrance is similar to that of upmarket hotels: a rather stilted atmosphere, objets d'art, a refined style, large areas, large sofas and rather cold, neutral colours. Strangely enough, though, as soon as you reach the middle of the complex, the tone changes and you begin to relax... The colours are bright, the sun shines, and you begin to forget the pressure of the journey. The first thing you notice? The amazing outdoor waterfall that flows into the sparkling blue water of the first swimming pool and then the next one up that juts out over the hotel. There are a lot of facilities, the complex is spacious, and you begin to feel dizzy with the choice on offer. There is also a multisports ground where guests can enjoy a game of tennis or football. We will see. There are also 2 table tennis tables alongside. As far as the "essential" factor that is the restaurant services (always very important on holiday) is concerned, you will be pleasantly surprised. Guests have no fewer than 4 restaurants to choose from, most of which serve specialities. The Spa is also surprising, both due to the various types of treatments available (Thai massage, hot stone massage, manicure, pedicure, etc.), and the setting, which is very conducive to well-being (Asian decor, relaxing music, a hammam, a fitness room overlooking the covered swimming-pool and wooden deck chairs, etc.).

    Food and drink 7.70 /10

You have a choice of 4 restaurants: the main restaurant, "Le Bolero" (included in the package), which offers international cuisine (head chef trained in France). We liked the careful presentation of the buffet, the variety of starters, main courses and desserts and (above all) the quality of the cuisine. Breakfast is served from 7.30am to 10am, lunch from 12.30pm to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 9.30pm. A wall aquarium at the back of the main restaurant separates it from the à la carte "Asia restaurant" (dinner served between 6pm and 9.30pm requiring reservation at reception). The decor is successful and includes orchids, typically Asian lamps and carefully set tables, to the extent that you almost feel that you are there. But this is not all - on the other side of the hotel there is a Bulgarian restaurant and the Argentinean grill restaurant. The former serves meals à la carte from 6pm to 9.30pm (on reservation) and the second (several sittings) is included in the package and can therefore be used as an alternative to the main restaurant.

    Beach 7.45 /10

Though there aren't any private beaches in Bulgaria, the public beach located near the hotel is large, well-kept and accessible after a few minutes on foot. Deck chairs and sunshades for a fee

    To know

The Bolero offers an all inclusive package, which is important when you consider that the cuisine served in the main restaurant (we have not tried the others) is of good quality and... Unlimited!

The hotel also has its own spa.

Although the hotel is not located directly on the seafront, there is quick access to the beach after a few minutes' walk. The beach is public but clean and well maintained.

A modern and comfortable hotel where it is good to stay as a family with children, as the atmosphere is rather young and relaxed. A good compromise for a change of scenery, while at the same time being close to the centre of town.

This hotel in the northern part of the Sables d'Or seaside resort was renovated in 2004, and is perfectly reasonable although not to be recommended to older visitors because of the tricky access to the beach and snack bar.
