A completely relaxing hotel, the Pousada Infante is a great location to stay if you wish to explore Algarve. Sitting alone on its cliff, a few minutes away from cape Saint Vincent, the most westerly point in Europe, the hotel has a splendid view of the Altantic.

    Location 8.0 /10

The Pousada Infante has a prime location on the edge of a cliff. Located two steps away from Cape Saint Vincent at the extreme south-west point of Europe, it faces the Atlantic, 60 m below, and the white fortress of Sagres To get there from the Faro airport some hundred miles away, take National Road EN 125 to Sagres. Once you have passed Lagos, at the roundabout, take the road to "Pousada". Cross the main Sagres road. The Pousada is on the right, behind the "Navigator" hotel on Punta de Atlalaia.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The 38 rooms of the hotel (and one suite) are not very large (22 mē) but quite attractive, simply fitted out with a marine theme that is rather retro . All of the rooms overlook the Atlantic from their comfortable terraces furnished with a table and bottle-green iron chairs. As for facilities, the essentials are there : individual air conditioning, direct international telephone, a small television (10 channels), a safe (extra charge) and a mini-bar. The white tiled bathroom has a bathtub, hair dryer, and sufficient welcome products.

    Overview 7.70 /10

Long white building flanked by a gallery of archways, the Pousada Infante was built in 1960 to celebrate the five hundredth anniversary of the death of the Infant Dom Henrique . He was nicknamed Henry the Navigator and he is considered to have founded a large navigation school in Sagres or Lagos and to have started the maritime expansion of Portugal. Furnished in a style reminding this period and decorated with paintings and objects ( bust, caravel models, globes...) on this same theme, it is, therefore, the spirit of major discoveries that this place is reproducing

    Food and drink 7.20 /10

The restaurant faces the Atlantic in a room with typical decoration : heavy Renaissance chairs, azulejos tiled walls, a large fireplace, glazed earthen bricks. The menu is simple and focuses on local specialities ( choices of meat and fish such as lamb chops and an assortment of vegetables or almond sole). Good traditional and consistent desserts with nuts and honey. Do not expect great gastronomy here. There is also a bar decorated in marine style with blue and wood .

    Beach

There is no beach but a small swimming pool is available where you can swim a few laps. Deckchairs, sunshades and towels are available on the terrace. Room service is also available.

    To know

In Portugal, "pousada" is the word used to mean a charming hotel with a small capacity. If they are located in historical locations, they are classified as "historical". If they are located in more recent areas they are classified as "regional". The Pousada Infante is a departure point to the west of Algarve ( Sagres, Cape Saint Vincent, Southwest Alentejo Nature Park) and offers only a modest outdoor pool as its only seaside attraction.
