    Location 5.55 /10

Situated in Saint-Paulin, in Mauricie; equidistant from Quebec and Montreal (2 hours).

    Accommodation 7.95 /10

4 types of accommodation are available in this hotel of approximately 150 rooms:
    - The chalets, rustic, with a kitchen, a lounge and 4 or 5 bedrooms with en suites equipped with a shower. There are no televisions in these, but there is a beautiful fireplace for evenings around the fire.
    - The condos, which just like the chalets offer guests complete freedom (kitchen and lounge), are perfect for families, with their 2 to 5 bedrooms equipped with bathrooms with a bathtub. As for equipment, there is a television, an alarm clock and of course, a fireplace!
    - 17 spacious rooms in the inn, the main building where the reception and restaurant are situated. They include two double beds which are perfect for sharing the price of a room between 4, armchairs, a desk, a television, ironing board, coffee maker and a plant to make the place feel a little warmer. However, the most pleasant thing is the large windows offering a view of the Canadian countryside. The bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub; essential after a day out in the cold. Another very pleasant aspect is the many pillows!
    - Two lodges situated opposite the inn hold 32 rooms. Quite large, they have a double bed and a lounge area with a sofa bed (another opportunity to invite your friends!). These rooms are real cosy nests (thermostat perfectly set to 22°C): the beds are really comfortable, with quilt and thermal cover, numerous pillows, and very soft sheets...making it difficult to get out of bed. That's ok, you're on holiday! As for the decor, there is light wooden furniture, wall paper, pastel colours, and a soft carpet. In terms of facilities: alarm clock, television, hair dryer, coffee maker, ironing board, etc. Nothing is missing!

Half of the rooms have a view of the Eau Claire Lake or the Bienvenue Lake, and the other of the garden.

    Overview 8.20 /10

Scattered around a large park, the chalets, lodges (former outfitters) and the condos contain the rooms and are accessed via tracks by car, and also by walking in snow shoes, by bike or on foot. The main building, the inn, holds the restaurant, the children's games room (colourful, spacious and well-equipped; younger children will love it) and the reception, which is very welcoming, and equipped with a lounge area with parquet flooring, a large fireplace, brown velvet sofas, armchairs and large coffee table. It is ultra-comfortable and very tasteful. This huge area is well-known for the considerable amount of activities it has to offer.
    In winter:
Two ice skating rinks: the first is equipped with ice hockey goals, with sticks provided, and the second is a track just over half a mile long, in the heart of fir trees and lit up at night. Finally, it is possible to ice skate without just doing a mini-circle on a puddle that has iced over! Ice skating rinks, cross-country skiing, "glissade sur tubes" (sliding on a sort of large rubber ring), snow shoe hiking, dog sleds and snowmobiling are all practised on the miles of tracks and on the lake, which is frozen until the beginning of May. All the equipment needed for these is available to guests, with an extra charge for dog sledding and snowmobiling. Concerning snowmobiling, the equipment is changed every year and you will be able to choose from the best of the best. As for dog sledding, this is a unique experience in the heart of nature. The kennel houses more than 100 dogs, each one louder and livelier than the next, and the dog handlers are less noisy, but passionate and very nice.
Moreover, you can also practise ice fishing and prepare the fish in the restaurant's kitchen according to your taste.
    In summer:
You can go around the lake on foot, by bike or by quad bike, and this is 14 mi in all! And to relax after all of this exercise, you can go for a nice swim. In the lake of course! There is a small beach set up, where there is a cabin allowing you to have a picnic and even have barbecues with the people you have been fishing with.

Finally, in both summer and winter, the hotel has an aquatic centre which houses one of the biggest swimming pools in Mauricie. Semi-Olympic, it is surrounded by bay windows, giving you the impression that you are swimming in the heart of nature, but indoors (it is 30°C!). This centre also has saunas (separate for women and men), Turkish bath, Scandinavian baths, a Jacuzzi, a small gym, and 2 Swedish massage rooms.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

A restaurant equipped with bay windows offers a superb view of the Eau Claire lake. Very long, this convivial room equipped with several fire places also has a bar where you can have a drink at the actual bar or in one of the small lounges around it. Try the Caribou, a very good, but quite strong local alcohol. At the end of this spacious dining room there is a large pool table for those who like the game. But now let's turn to what's on our plates, as that's the most important thing. In the morning, there is a large choice of cereals, eggs, bacon, fruit, yoghurts, and French toast or pancakes (with maple syrup of course!). Add to this the great classics of a continental breakfast, apart from the espresso, which you have to pay extra for. At lunch and dinner time, guests have the choice between "a la carte" meals or a "table d'hôte" meal of 3 or 4 courses. This last one consists of soup, a main meal and a dessert, and also includes a starter in the evening. The choice of meals is considerable and varied, with a predominance of products from the region. The inn's speciality is trout, fished for in the surrounding lakes. Excellent, it is prepared in all types of ways, using various cooking methods: smoked, whole, as a fillet, in pastry, marinated, etc. All in all, this hotel offers very good food which should satisfy even the most demanding of customers.

    To know

There is a free shuttle for guests staying in the chalets (rather far from the restaurant). To benefit from this service, dial 0 from the telephone in your room.
