Located in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts in Mauricie, it is equidistant (2 hours) from Quebec and Montreal.
Several types of room are available for couples or family guests. This has been well thought through: rooms for couples have a television (for when there's nothing left to talk about) while families or groups of friends are housed in chalets. There are 10 "rooms for couples", housed in the main building, and have recently undergone renovation (in 2007), which are spacious, elegant, pleasantly decorated and comfortable. They have two double beds (very snug), a big flat screen and a corner with a table and chairs to talk through your troubles or write postcards. You will feel very much at home, and the all-wooden decor is in perfect harmony with the landscape. The wooden bathroom is quite big and has a bath. The chalets each have 4 rooms. They are decorated in a different style. It is less luxurious but more welcoming. Located by the lake, all the chalets have an excellent view of it. They are equipped with everything you need to be self-sufficient, surrounded by nature for as long as you wish. With a fireplace, big lounge, dining room, fitted kitchen, and barbecue, it is almost home from home, except perhaps for the decor, which is rather lacking in charm. Three of the rooms are upstairs and one is downstairs; each has a double and a single bed, and its own bathroom with a shower or bath. Simplicity is the key, with all you need for a good night's sleep but nothing to make you linger too long under the sheets. The 10 commandments of Gaston (the owner) and his disciples are displayed in each dwelling, so make sure you tow the line!
The Lac Blanc is today one of the biggest outfitters in the Saint-Alexis-des-Monts region. It is an 8600-acre area of tranquillity, with dozens of lakes and whole forests of larch, hemlock, wild cherry trees, fir trees, spruces and of course maple trees, and log cabins with smoking chimneys at the forest's edge. The facilities are grouped at the edge of Lac Blanc. A main building houses the restaurant, which opens onto a big terrace, and downstairs is a friendly bar with armchairs and a television. The atmosphere is at its best when matches are shown, and the beer flows! There is room for a mixed sauna on the same level. The hotel has a newly built big spa with an indoor swimming pool.
Scattered around the shores of the lake, a few chalets provide accommodation. As far as the other facilities are concerned, there is a sugar house and a little chalet.
Many activities are organised by devoted experts. You can go ice fishing with Butch, a trapper who shares his love for nature with passion - a unique experience.
Food and drink
The restaurant is very cute, with red tablecloths and curtains, a big stone fireplace and a friendly atmosphere. There are many dishes to choose from for lunch and dinner, including the speciality of this outfitter and of the region in general: trout! In the bar downstairs, you can order a burger, salad or sandwiches.
Gaston Pellerin, the happy owner of the Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc, is a very busy man. A short but sturdy man with broad shoulders and a jolly disposition, a few years ago he decided to leave his job as a forester and convert his estate into a hotel.
