The Pousada des Arts has 8 rooms oozing charm, with their yellow walls, a few local pictures, a big mirror, a wicker armchair, and curtains in the typical multicoloured style of Bahia. It could not be more romantic! We also liked the lampshades, which are coloured in the pastel colours of Pelourinho: red, green, purple, and yellow. If you are wondering about the views, 4 of the rooms have a balcony overlooking a very pleasant street that is lined with colourful houses and peaceful at night, while the other 4 have a big terrace with a panoramic view over Bahia de Todos os Santos bay and the harbour of Salvador de Bahia. Measuring between 20 and 40m², the rooms are all different. Their pretty parquet floors are made of precious wood and the furniture consists of stylish and original forged iron items. The romantic 4 poster bed is protected by pretty white curtains, and an extra bed is available in case you are have a child in tow. A calendar of cultural events is thoughtfully provided on your bedside table. The facilities include a mini bar fridge (on the terrace), a safe with a key (free), a direct phone line, Wifi and ADSL wired Internet access (free), a flat screen satellite television (lots of channels), and a DVD player, not to mention the hammock on the terrace, surely one of the best inventions ever! There is also individual air conditioning combined with a ceiling fan. The spacious bathroom is decorated with yellow and brown tiles and equipped with a large fixed shower head, a toilet, a hair dryer, and hospitality products tied up with the famous lucky wrist ribbons from Senhor do Bonfim Church. Rooms 3 and 4 still have their original brick arches. Rooms 5 and 6 are on the second floor and have a mezzanine level up a staircase, which will come in very useful if you are bringing your children. The terrace is decorated with the same yellow and brown patterned tiles as the bathroom. Furnished with a wicker armchair, a sofa with a colourful cushion, and a hammock, this is the height of luxury at siesta time, and is also not a bad spot from which to enjoy the view. If you're feeling a little thirsty, the mini bar fridge is just under the hammock!
