    Accommodation 8.70 /10

Each of the Villa Bahia's rooms are different, named according to former Portuguese colonies. As well as this, each room displays a map showing the colony in question. What the rooms have in common is charm, comfort and period features. Spacious with old, stone flooring, each room has a big bed, a desk, satellite television, a free safe, individual air-conditioning, a minibar fridge, a telephone and wifi internet access. They do not have balconies but the windows offer beautiful views over San Francisco square and its superb cathedral, a pretty adjoining road or over the patio.
The bathroom is big and original. Clean and well decorated with pretty tile flooring and flowers, it comprises of a bathtub, a separate shower, a toilet, hospitality products, a professional hair-dryer and slippers.

    Overview 8.70 /10

Opened in 2006, the Villa Bahia occupies two former colonial houses of either one or two floors with a yellowish white façade, comprising of 17 different suites, each carrying the exotic name of a former Portuguese colony (Goa, Mexico, etc). Everything here oozes charm and elegance, with period furniture, a scale model of a colonial period Portuguese boat, and even the lift which is clad in wood and painted with birds. It is a traditional home renovated as a hotel. The must-have? The panoramic, wooden terrace with its two whirlpool baths, its cushioned wooden deckchairs surrounded by plants offering an unobstructed view over Salvador de Bahia. The hotel also has a small 4x2m swimming pool, located on a flowery patio equipped with deckchairs and brightened up by plants, it is an utterly charming place.

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

The package includes breakfast, but you can also have lunch served from midday until 3:00pm, and dinner from 7:00 until 11:00pm at the Villa Bahia. You can enjoy delicious Bahianese cuisine here. In keeping with the rest of the establishment, the restaurant is charming and elegant, brightened up by parquet, a chandelier and period paintings. A bar serves a variety of cocktails, including the irrefutable 'caipirinha'!

    To know

You can relax in one of the two whirlpool baths on the panoramic terrace, or be massaged in a beautiful room with a mystical Indian atmosphere, where shamanic treatment is given. Each room is different and price varies accordingly.

    Accommodation tip

For the romantics who want the real deal, the Goa room is the best: you will be charmed by its beautiful bed veiled by drapes, in an ambiance worthy of a Maharaja palace. On top of this it enjoys one of the best views from the hotel, directly over San Francisco square and the cathedral.
The Ceylan room is also lovely: you can eat your breakfast on its two-floor terrace of which one has a whirlpool bath.
Same as in the Japanese style Nagasaki room: you can eat your breakfast on the panoramic terrace furnished with a whirlpool bath.
