The Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa is located on the southeast of the Samana peninsula, in the eponymous town, perched on a hill overlooking a large bridge. For transfers to the new airport of Samana, plan at least 45 minutes.
The Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa has 295 rooms divided into standard rooms, spousal rooms and junior suites. Nearly 90% have a view of the sea. Well arranged, modernly equipped and quite colourful, they each have a king-size bed, satellite TV (with nearly 150 channels!), a desk for those who have the ludicrous idea that they came here to work, an alarm clock for early risers, a luggage rack, a large safe ($ 4 per day), air conditioning with individual ceiling fans, a large balcony with a drying line, a fridge, facilities for tea and coffee, an ironing board and iron, and telephone with direct international dialling. The bathroom includes all necessary amenities: a bathtub adapted for the disabled (with handles to help standing), non-separate toilets, personal skin care products, handkerchiefs, a hair dryer, a bathrobe and a magnifying mirror.
Hung on a cliff, the Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa has several levels and a panoramic elevator offering a fabulous view over the Samana Bay takes you to the beach. From there, a beautiful bridge connecting these three small islands leads to a small private island owned by the hotel. The main pool, round shaped, is equipped with wooden deckchairs with mattresses and there are showers. A small island in the middle cheers up the entire setting. The main building of six floors is quite massive and lacks charm. In a remote location, 17 small buildings house the junior suites. Right next door is the fish restaurant and a second swimming pool, quieter, including three bubble baths and an in-pool bar where you can sip cocktails with your feet in the water! After so much effort, it is time to come to bask in the Bahia spa (using Skeyndor cosmetics), which includes a relaxation room, a hammam, six massage rooms and a VIP cabin for couples on honeymoon.
Food and drink
No less than five restaurants are available to you, three serving a la carte (a gourmet restaurant, a fish restaurant and one that serves Italian specialties, a snack bar and a buffet bar. The gourmet restaurant has a beautiful wooden roof and enjoys a panoramic view of the Samana bay. A mezzanine space upstairs includes a circular panoramic terrace, which allows you to eat while trying to see whales: bring along your binoculars! A snack bar offers light meals from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To get refreshed, five bars are at your disposal: on the beach, at the snack bar, the lobby, the pool and the disco bar.
The beach is quite small but well equipped and furnished with many plastic deckchairs with mattresses, a bar and a water sports club. Athletes can play beach volleyball or darts. The animation events can be quite noisy. Like in most beaches on the Samana peninsula, the sand is not really white and fine, but rather dark yellow or brown.
A brand new hotel opened in November 2006, the Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa belongs to the Spanish high-end chain Gran Bahia Principe. The toponymic configuration of the hotel necessitates climbing up and down a significant number of stairs, which is not quite suitable for elderly guests, young children or disabled visitors, even if the hotel has ramps and elevators. A business centre offers two telephones and a computer with free Internet connection. Three buggies circulate throughout the area.
The hotel's privileged location on the heights of Samana.
The wide choice of restaurants.
Free access to the Internet.
The unattractive main building.
The absence of a kid's club.
The large number of rooms.

Séjour de 2 semaines. Bon.
