Overlooking Lake Liscia and situated 3 mi from Sant'Antonio di Gallura by car, the Aldiola Country Resort is very remote, which has both its advantages and disadvantages. Olbia Airport is 19 mi away, a good half an hour's drive. Despite the fact that wherever you want to go you have to travel on winding roads to get there, the hotel does benefit from being in a very central location in the north of Sardinia.
Its 26 guest rooms are divided into three categories: no view of the lake (standard), a partial view of the lake, and a full view of the lake (superior). Inside though, there isn't a huge difference between the categories. Large, warmly furnished and well-equipped (a fully stocked minibar, Wi-Fi Internet (at an extra cost), air-conditioning, a flat-screen television, etc.), the guest rooms all have a traditional Sardinian decor (you'll either love it or you'll hate it) with just the main colour that varies. The large bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub and a bidet. The superior guest rooms also have a coffee machine and free Wi-Fi in addition to the other amenities.
The major difference between the room categories is therefore the view. While the guest rooms that look out onto oak trees are far from unpleasant, it is true that having your own little terrace looking out over the lake and equipped with a table and chairs is something extra special. In any case, and regardless of the room, the view from all of them is peaceful.
The first things you'll notice as you arrive at the Aldiola are the view of Lake Liscia and the hotel's calm and natural setting. A peaceful ambiance is guaranteed at this hotel, built in 2005. Overlooking the lake, the hotel's location is without doubt its principal attribute. Although not exactly very big, the establishment consists of a main building with the reception and the restaurant, a swimming pool, and gardens sloping gently down towards the lake and planted with cork oaks, in the centre of which are hidden the guest rooms and a fantastic little outdoor fitness area. When it comes to the architecture and interior decor, the establishment has fully embraced all that is local. This is particularly well demonstrated by the little bungalows with their tiled roofs and orange walls.
The Aldiola has just one restaurant, which isn't surprising for a hotel with just 26 guest rooms, but can seem limited when you bear in mind that the alternatives are few and far between. The three meals of the day are served in the main building. Like the guest rooms, the restaurant is large yet cosy and features exposed beams and a traditional Sardinian decor. The tables are arranged in such a way that it is possible to enjoy a fairly private dinner. In addition to offering plenty of natural light thanks to the many windows looking out onto the swimming pool, the large fireplace also gives it a cosy feel. When the weather is nice, guests can sit outside on the terrace.
The menu is composed of traditional Sardinian dishes, fresh, local products and wine from the family estate.
The majority of the hotel's guests come from France and Germany.
Open from mid-March to the end of October, the Aldiola is open longer than the majority of the establishments in Sardinia, making it ideal for holidays during low season.
