    Location 5.0 /10

The MMV is located next to the road in the village of Le Monêtier-les-Bains. To make your way to the slopes, you can either walk or take the free shuttle bus, which will get you there in 4 minutes.

    Accommodation 6.50 /10

The hotel's 108 guest rooms provide accommodation for 2, 3, 4, or even 5 guests, and are located in two long buildings, meaning that the rooms at the end are quite a walk away. On top of this, one of the buildings does not have a lift to help you out! As far as the decor goes, the hotel gets away with its tinted walls and carpeted floor only because it is in the mountains. As for the facilities, bring low expectations to avoid disappointment, because simplicity is the watchword here. All that is provided is a television attached to the wall. The big surprise is the bathroom, which is a spacious room with cupboards. Not many clubs offer bathrooms with such generous dimensions, regardless of how many people the room can accommodate.

    Overview 6.75 /10

The MMV is located in an imposing, charmless building next to the main road, but on the inside it is a pleasant place with a friendly ambience and plenty of facilities to keep families happy. It is clear that the establishment has gone to great lengths to provide everything people young and old might require, whether their mood calls for a quiet corner to unwind or a spot of entertainment. The facilities include a bar, play rooms, a theatre in the dark basement, which is often used for film nights, and a relaxation area with a bookcase and fireplace. However, the discrepancy between the levels of comfort and decorative styles in these different parts of the hotel does not lend the place a sense of harmony, and at times, the cosy feel gives way to the kitsch. For example, the parquet flooring suddenly turns into carpet, and the large, bright space opening onto the terrace is joined to a dark little room. In the end, it is difficult to form a cut-and-dried opinion about the place.
Finally, just like in any good club hotel, children are taken good care of with 3 facilities catering to youngsters aged from 18 months to 17 years. This service is provided free of charge from the age of 4 years and up, but for children younger than this, there is a charge for the limited number of places (7 in the morning, 7 in the afternoon). In addition to keeping youngsters entertained with plenty of games and workshops, the coordinators organise morning and afternoon outings for children to have fun in the snow.
There is a beautiful space designed for relaxation. In its Zen-like setting featuring bright colours and contemporary furniture, there is a whirlpool bath, a hammam, and a sauna. However, only 12 people can use it at a time, and you will need to make your (free) booking the day before since the spots are hard to come by, especially later in the day. Each client is limited to two visits per week.

    Food and drink 6.00 /10

The restaurant is surrounded by a large picture window and is decorated in a tasteful fashion with dark wooden furniture and a carpet, creating a mountain ambience. All of the meals are served as a buffet, and the dishes on offer are pretty simple, although a series of themes means the usual grated carrots and sauce-based dishes make way for some more original ideas. The wine that is included is truly second-rate, so you would be well advised to treat yourself to a bottle instead.
Once a week, guests can enjoy dinner at the Savoyard restaurant. Just make sure you book a table early in the week to avoid disappointment. Unsurprisingly, the menu includes bankable dishes like fondue and raclette, and the dining room, which is lined with wood, really has the feel of a mountain restaurant.
It is a pity that the terrace in the main restaurant is far too small for the number of guests.

    To know

The south-side rooms have the bonus of a balcony, but priority in these is given to families since they can sleep a higher number of guests.
Skiset has its own shop in the hotel and the prices are 15-20% lower than in standard shops.
A picnic buffet and plastic boxes are provided, so you can prepare your meal and eat something other than sandwiches on the slopes. Apart from during the French school holidays in February, guests are given free access for two hours to the baths at Le Monêtier-les-Bains.

Neither a hotel nor a residence, the management hasn't quite made up its mind about this former Best Western establishment. One thing's for sure, its apartments are brand new and fully-equipped. The only snag is that the hotel overlooks a car park.

The Alliey & Spa is a charming village hotel that appeals to aficionados of fine food who wish to combine their stay in the mountains with a good bit of pampering. However, the different levels of luxury between the guest rooms and the rest of the facilities might not live up to everyone's expectations.

The Boule de Neige is a charming little 10 room hotel located in an old building, and is perfect for couples and small families. It has the advantage of offering peace and quiet in a location close to the slopes and organised activities. It is a pity that more than half of the rooms are north-facing and that they are so small.

This hotel is only open during the winter, and although pleasant, it does lack charm. Despite the original Mediterranean style and a full range of facilities including a well-being space, there is a sense that something is missing, maybe a real breakfast room or a genuine spa, or perhaps harmony in the decor and ambience.
