Casa Romana is a small, charming, family boutique hotel located on Trajano street, next to the Hercules esplanade in the old town. The building itself dates back to the 18th century and its striking patio, adorned with a fountain, immediately conjures up an Andalusian atmosphere. Also worthy of note is the large whirlpool bath and solarium terrace on the roof of the hotel.

    Location 7.0 /10

The hotel is ideally situated on Trajano street, close to the Hercules esplanade, Duque de la Victoria Square and Sierpes street, in the historical centre of the old town. It is only a ten minute walk away from the neighbourhood of Santa Cruz, the cathedral (and its famous Giralda), and the Alcazar palace. The Don Pablo international airport, however, is 8 and a half mi away which means that you must allow 20 minutes for the transfer.

    Accommodation 7.95 /10

The rooms may be relatively small, but they are cosy and full of charm. They have a small wooden desk and a stool with a colourful design, lovely floorboards and walls that are tastefully decorated with three pretty frames. However, they lack windows. As far as equipment is concerned, they have satellite television, so you will be able to watch CNN or Fox News. They also have an electronic safe concealed in the wardrobe where you can keep your valuables (free of charge) . There is a quiet air-conditioning system, a phone, internet access (payable) and a mini-bar fridge. Room-service is available from 7:00am until 11:00pm. The bathrooms, on the other hand, are spacious and nicely decorated with flowers and a pretty picture frame. They have a whirlpool bath with a flexible showerhead, a toilet, a bidet, a phone, a hair-dryer, hospitality products, dressing-gowns and slippers.

    Overview 8.20 /10

Casa Romana, the home of the Romanas, actually belongs to the Romana family. This beautiful 18th century building boasts a magnificent patio with a fountain. The sound of the water has a very soothing effect. The hotel, which was inaugurated in 2004, has 26 rooms spread over 4 floors. On the last floor, on the roof, you can enjoy the huge whirlpool bath (open from 10:00am until 9:00pm), and sip a drink in one of the wooden deckchairs on the solarium terrace (with its azulejo-decorated walls).

    Food and drink 7.70 /10

There are no restaurants at Casa Romana, but there is a nice underground room where a delicious breakfast is served in cosy surroundings between 7:30am and 10:00am. In addition to the buffet and its cuts of meat, cheeses, pastries, cereals and fresh fruit, you can also order an omelette or waffles from the menu.

    To know

Don't forget to bring your bathing costume: it's not quite a swimming-pool but it's as close as it gets! The size of the large whirlpool bath on the 4th floor solarium terrace is unbelievable. It is the perfect spot to lay back and relax in the wooden deckchairs that line the azulejo-tiled white walls. Open from 10:00am until 9:00pm, you can also enjoy a drink here in the Andalusian sun. You will find a computer here with Internet access (payable), but if you have your laptop with you, you can use the free Wifi access in the reception area. There is a Corte Ingles mall nearby, where you will find everything and anything you want! It is the ideal place to shop for souvenirs, or try out a local delicacy.

Wifi payant.

This three-star establishment, which belongs to the 'Casas y Palacios de España' group, could barely be in a better geographical location than its address at the heart of Seville. The interior design features a combination of Andalusian items and more classic decorative objects. The guest rooms, which are spread over three floors accessed via a lift, are spacious and practical. The pleasant inner courtyard is brightly lit through its vaulted, coloured-glass roof, and is the perfect place to sit with a book or just unwind with a little something to drink. However, the breakfast room and lobby have a somewhat cold appearance.

As its name suggests, this hotel from the Eurostars chain is located in the neighbourhood of Cartuja, which was built to host the Universal Exposition of Seville in 1992. However, not only is it in this neighbourhood, it is actually within the Olympic Stadium itself! This makes it an especially appealing place to stay if you are going to watch a match or any other event being held there. The guest rooms overlooking the stadium are particularly eye-catching. However, you are best off arriving by car or by taxi, because otherwise you will have to cross an immense and rather unattractive car park in order to get there. Also, the hotel is a long way from the city centre, and does not have a lot of facilities.

This hotel belongs to the High Tech group and enjoys a perfect location, at the heart of Seville, on Plaza Canalejas and opposite the famous Meliá Colón. The Petit Palace hotel provides its guests with free Internet access and has fitted each of its 52 rooms with a computer, which is a real bonus feature. However, if you like to have a lot of room, we would recommend that you don't book a standard room as you'll almost certainly find that it's not spacious enough. Alternatively, if you're travelling as a family and are looking for good value for your money, choose one of the family rooms as these are fitted with bunk beds. Try to avoid the rush hour at breakfast as the room is rather small.

The Inglaterra exudes the kind of distinctive charm of an establishment with a real history. One of the first hotels in its category to open in Seville, it has managed to retain some of the features that have made it famous since that date back in 1857. The current building was erected in 1968. The façade could be more attractive and the breakfast room is also rather low on appeal. Inside, the hotel logo displayed on the various stained glass windows and furniture, in addition to the types of wood used and the Irish bar (which opened in 1995), make the place feel both classic and unique at the same time.

Great attention has been paid to every last detail, from the furniture to the materials used, not forgetting the combination of shapes and colours. As soon as you set foot inside the hotel you'll find yourself in a modern Andalusian-style courtyard with a small fountain and stylish furniture with a very pleasant feel to it. You are also sure to receive a very heartfelt welcome here and should feel free to ask at reception should you have any questions or queries whatsoever. The inside part of the breakfast room is also worth special mention. All that's really missing is a nice pool for swimming a few lengths on a hot summer's day!
