The Casas de la Juderia is a unique concept, an actual town within a town, all located in the old Jewish quarter at the heart of Santa Cruz. With 32 patios, gardens full of flowers and adorned with fountains, a swimming pool, guest rooms fit for the Palace of Versailles, paved alleyways, first-class cuisine, a breath-taking all-mosaic spa and even an underground gallery, among other surprises, this really is a exceptional place to stay! So what are you waiting for? This unique hotel is a combination of a Moroccan Riad, an Andalusian village and a palace straight out of the Thousand and One Nights! It is one of our favourite things about Seville.

    Location 7.5 /10

On the Plaza Santa Maria La Blanca at the heart of the Barrio de la Juderia (the old Jewish quarter), not far from the cathedral and its Giralda and just a stone's throw from the Alcazar Palace, at the heart of Seville, in the historical district of Santa Cruz. The closest metro station is Puerta Jerez (line 1), and the closest bus stop is in Calle Garcia de Vinuesa (line C5). The MetroCentro tramway passes close to the Plaza Nueva square, where the town hall is located. Don Pablo international airport is 7.5 mi away and transfer time is around 20 minutes.

    Accommodation 8.45 /10

The spacious rooms (over 30m²) at Las Casas de la Juderia are all different, each more elegant than the last, and some could have come right out of a fairytale palace! What they all have in common is their great comfort and state-of-the-art amenities: a flat screen television (with 18 channels), very quiet individual air-conditioning, a fridge mini-bar, a direct telephone line, free broadband internet (in 50 rooms), and a safe with an electronic code. Their charming decor is tasteful and elegant, offering their guests a most romantic setting: oriental rugs, king-size beds, parquet flooring, wooden beams on the original ceilings - very cosy. 'Home sweet home'. Those who would rather spend their holiday in simple and minimalist surroundings on the other hand, had best look elsewhere!
The marble bathrooms, for their part, are sparkling clean and decorated just as elegantly as the rest of the room; they even have wooden beams on the ceiling and very smart original tap fixtures. Amenities include both a jacuzzi bathtub with a handle and a flexible shower, a separate tropical shower, a double washbasin, a separate toilet (complete with bidet and telephone), a hair-dryer, hospitality products, a magnifying mirror and tissues. Room service is available around the clock.

    Overview 8.45 /10

Since it was built in 1991, Las Casas de la Juderia simply hasn't stop growing, gradually buying out the surrounding houses and becoming an actual town within a town, complete with little alleyways and a subway which runs under the street! The complex now consists of a combination of 18 aristocratic and working-class houses from the 17th to the 19th centuries, covering an area of 18,000m²!
Even when you arrive in the lobby, where a large tapestry adorns the wall, you cannot imagine what surprises await beyond the entrance! This extraordinary hotel is continually changing and was last renovated in 2008. It bears references to Venice and Rome as well as the Greek and Arab worlds, making it an Ali Baba's cave of sorts, with a surprise around every corner! The 178 guestrooms are spread amid lush vegetation, among the complex's 32 flower-decked patios, embellished with fountains and ornamental pools. Indeed, the gardens are so large that it takes two full-time gardeners to take care of the 1,800 flower pots!
Unlike most hotels, this one is not built up vertically but is more of a long complex. It is easy to get lost in the estate but it does indeed add charm to this secret and mysterious village, bathed in a delightful scent of jasmine and orange blossom. It is a little like a medina or a riad. To sum up, this place is unclassifiable but definitely unique! Even the fabulous spa is like a second Sistine Chapel covered in mosaics from top to bottom including in the sauna and hammam! Our favourite feature was definitely the 'flotarium' where guests can float in water as salty as that of the Dead Sea, while staring at the fake starry sky. As far as water temperature is concerned, the choice between three pools, filled with cold, warm and hot water respectively, means that there is something to suit everyone. Add to this a jacuzzi, aromatherapy and even Scottish showers (all clad in mosaics), a thermal bench, a cobbled walkway for massaging your feet and two massage rooms completely covered in mosaics, and you're looking at a perfect place for relaxation!

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

The restaurant services reflect the standards of the rest of the establishment, and centre around the charming dining room, which wouldn't go amiss at the Palace of Versailles! Breakfast is served as a buffet from 7:30am to 10:30am (and until 11:00am on Sundays) in a superb mirrored room, surrounded by galleries, which can accommodate up to 130 guests. Guests with special dietary needs are also catered for. Lunch and dinner are served in the 'à la carte' Mediterranean restaurant, Emporion, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm and from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. The menu here consists of such options as warm olive bread rolls, gazpacho and cod carpaccio, foie gras on toast and onion appetisers, goat's cheese salad with honey vinaigrette, radiatore (pasta) with courgettes and salmon, and grilled Iberian pork flavoured with Pedro Ximenez wine, finished off with Tarte Tatin on vanilla ice cream with raspberry coulis. Upstairs, a small room with a capacity of 22 people overlooks the patio and the piano bar, making it ideal for relaxing to the sound of a live pianist, though it is only open from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Smoking a chicha, drinking a mint tea and enjoying a 'gazelle horn' pastry, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a riad in the middle of a Moroccan medina!

    To know

The hotel's breathtaking spa is covered in floor-to-ceiling mosaics, and even the sauna and hammam haven't escaped this treatment! The property is so extensive that a 656-ft tunnel has been drilled under the road, resulting in the unearthing of a wall from the Roman period. The hotel is a member of the Hoteles, Casas y Palacios de España collection, and has an outdoor pool which is open from May to September. Upstairs there is a small chapel, and if you look closely you can even see through an opening in the bottom left-hand corner into the adjacent church, the Santa Maria de Blanca, the oldest in Seville! It is actually a former synagogue. The majority of the hotel's clientele is French. You can access the Internet free of charge using one of the two computers provided for the use of guests.

This three-star establishment, which belongs to the 'Casas y Palacios de España' group, could barely be in a better geographical location than its address at the heart of Seville. The interior design features a combination of Andalusian items and more classic decorative objects. The guest rooms, which are spread over three floors accessed via a lift, are spacious and practical. The pleasant inner courtyard is brightly lit through its vaulted, coloured-glass roof, and is the perfect place to sit with a book or just unwind with a little something to drink. However, the breakfast room and lobby have a somewhat cold appearance.

This was undoubtedly once a very grand establishment. Today, however, it is an unpretentious little place, tucked away at the heart of a very pleasant square in Seville, just a few minutes' walk from the city centre. If you're a fan of the 70s, it's safe to say that you are sure to be won over by the interior architecture. As for the rooms, you can expect space here, and lots of it.

This charming boutique hotel stands in the Judería district and is British-owned. Its 6 guest rooms are all different and it's clear that a great deal of time and effort was been put into the renovation of this former private residence, which dates back to the 17th century. If you're not very familiar with the city, the staff here will be happy to offer up countless options and ideas when it comes to getting out and exploring the more authentic side of the city. Music-lovers, too, will be delighted to find that the rooms come with their own musical instruments, along with musical programmes specially designed for guests at the Corral del Rey. The bar, meanwhile, also serves as an exhibition space for various painters and photographers throughout the year.
