This three-star establishment, which belongs to the 'Casas y Palacios de España' group, could barely be in a better geographical location than its address at the heart of Seville. The interior design features a combination of Andalusian items and more classic decorative objects. The guest rooms, which are spread over three floors accessed via a lift, are spacious and practical. The pleasant inner courtyard is brightly lit through its vaulted, coloured-glass roof, and is the perfect place to sit with a book or just unwind with a little something to drink. However, the breakfast room and lobby have a somewhat cold appearance.

    The hotel is located in a little alley right at the heart of the historical centre of Seville, a stone's throw from Plaza Santa Cruza and just a five-minute walk from the cathedral. The airport is just 6 mi away, so allow around 15 minutes by car. It takes about the same time to get to the station.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

    The two words that best describe the 47 guest rooms of the Casas de los Mercaderes are 'understated' and 'classic'. The decor is carefully designed down to the smallest details, from the light parquet flooring and yellow walls to the blue damask curtains and the matching wood of the headboard and desk. The column standing in the middle of the room is a rather surprising and very original feature! There is also a little orange armchair in the room. Like in the courtyard, the walls of the rooms are adorned with several lithographs depicting views of Seville. Needless to say, you will also find the usual well-stocked mini-bar, and a flat-screen television attached to the wall. The rooms also impress in terms of their brightness and dimensions. Some of them have views over the street, while other overlook the inner area of the establishment. It is a real pleasure to hear the birdsong when you open the windows. The bathroom has a very full set of facilities, including two bathrobes, a complete set of creams and soaps from the Etro brand, and even toothbrushes. There is also a make-up mirror and a hair-dryer. Some of the bathrooms have a bathtub, the others a shower, so be sure to bear this in mind if you have a preference either way.

    The establishment opened in 1998 and was renovated in 2010, but it has something of a tradition in this sector, and was already a hotel before joining the 'Casas y Palacios de España' group. Its geographical location at the heart of Seville, just a stone's throw from the cathedral and the impressive Giralda, is quite simply wonderful. When you arrive, you enter a large reception lounge furnished with a wooden counter, several wicker armchairs, a little table with tourist brochures, and a big vase. The white marble lining the whole of this space gives it a rather cold appearance. A few old lithographs adorn the walls, and newspapers are available behind the reception counter, where customer satisfaction is the main priority. The inner courtyard is a pleasant space that enjoys plenty of light thanks to its multicoloured glass vaulted roof. The pink and white arches here are inspired by the traditional Arabo-Andalusian style. There are also a few little tables in this space, which is perfect for relaxing in.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

    The hotel does not have a restaurant, but you can enjoy breakfast in a room on the ground floor from 7:30am to 10:30am. The buffet consists of standard fare such as coffee, tea, cereals, pastries and cold cuts of pork. The breakfast room is on a mezzanine level, and furnished with tables with a rather charmless, old-fashioned look.

    The name 'Mercaderes' dates back to the Middle Ages, when merchants from Florence and Italy used to stay in the district when they came to sell their goods in the city.

        Trois nuits dans cet hôtel du centre-ville. Déception pour la chambre sans ouverture extérieure seule une fenêtre donnant sur la salle du petit déjeuner et le hall d'accueil. Bonne literie. Joli hall d'accueil avec verrière.

      The Inglaterra exudes the kind of distinctive charm of an establishment with a real history. One of the first hotels in its category to open in Seville, it has managed to retain some of the features that have made it famous since that date back in 1857. The current building was erected in 1968. The façade could be more attractive and the breakfast room is also rather low on appeal. Inside, the hotel logo displayed on the various stained glass windows and furniture, in addition to the types of wood used and the Irish bar (which opened in 1995), make the place feel both classic and unique at the same time.
