Hauza: a resort where there's always more to discover! Just when you thought this resort is like any other, you discover a flamingo park, a turtle garden, a jungle pool and even a creepy-crawly exhibition box! Friendly staff, great well thought-out facilities and freshly baked flatbread in an authentic traditional Egyptian oven. Hauza is a good all-round resort especially good for families.

    Location 3.01 /10

Located almost at the entrance of Nabq Bay, Hauza is a beach side resort.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

The accommodation blocks are two storey red-wash villas. The rooms are extremely plain and functional. The rooms could do with a spruce up as the furniture is dated as are the soft furnishings which also look worn. The rooms either have a balcony or terrace and all the expected facilities such as a television (old-generation) with several channels of a variety of languages (especially English channels), every room has a bath and a great plus of this resort is that 80% of the rooms have a sea view. There is also a safe in every room; however it costs 2 Euros a day. Guests are welcome to leave their valuables at reception for free. There is also a hairdryer in every room.

    Overview 7.20 /10

The Hauza looks like a conventional resort from the outset and even from its bland, lobby. The resort is built on sevenl levels which seem to endlessly wind towards the aqua waters of the Red Sea. Once you step outside the lobby and you reach the flamingo park is when you start to realise that this resort is a little more original than the rest! Next to the flamingos guests will find the two resident turtles hiding away in their little home. Further down the path on the next level is the first pool which is where the bulk of the day's entertainment takes place lead by the entertainment team. Still following the path, and just when you think you're almost on the beach, a huge pool, appropriately-named the ?jungle pool' appears with its footbridges, rock pools various slides and lots more! Behind the cascading water, there is a surprise real creepy-crawly show on display behind glass which is again, another unusual aspect of the resort. As if that wasn't enough, the Hauza also boasts a fantastic-looking Indian restaurant in the shape of a wooden boat floating on a man-made lake. Beautiful, peaceful and with sea views, this restaurant is a firm favourite with the Easyvoyage editorial team.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

There are several restaurants; the main restaurant, although a tad dark, it is a very pleasant area where plants have been added to give a fresher feeling. There is also a beautiful à la carte Indian restaurant in the shape of a wooden boat on a man-made male which is highly-recommended. All food is fresh and bread is all freshly-baked in a traditional oven. The food is overall of a reasonable quality and the choice is a definite plus. There is 24-hour room service at an extra fee. Close to the first pool, there is also a snack bar which serves a good variety of 'second' breakfasts, lunches and dinners for guests having missed the restaurant services. Guests can thus eat at their leisure and live out their day at their own pace. The hotel also has an à la carte BBQ restaurant above the sea. A good effort has been made with the interior too, which has been done up to an Egyptian theme.

    Beach 8.70 /10

The beach is especially long and is split into three areas: the beach bar area with snacks and pizzeria, the next part consists of an area with beach volley and other sports and the third area is the quiet, relaxation area which is a real delight. Clean and well-maintained, the beach is a pleasant area to enjoy. There is a jetty which gives direct access to the coral for snorkelling and a couple pf lagoons have been created for swimming. The beach faces Tiran Island which offers some diversity to an otherwise consistent view of glistening turquoise waters.

    To know

The Hauza resort opened in 2000 and is well maintained. With 506 rooms it is a fairly large resort. A second line hotel is also being built as this is written (year 2009) across the street. Just when you thought you'd seen it all, there's always more to explore at this resort! It scores highly with our editorial team. For guests needing to pick up a few bits and bobs, there is a supermarket at hand at the entrance of the hotel (bottles of water, which are not included in the all-inclusive formula, are cheaper to buy here than at the hotel bars).

It is true to say that the Coral Hills is by no means one of the top hotels in Sharm el Sheikh, however there is something immensely likeable about the place. It may be the intimacy of the place; it could be the small touches likes the swan towel sculptures on the beds or maybe even the enthusiasm of the staff. Whatever it is, easyvoyage.co.uk would recommend this small hotel for those looking for a quieter getaway mixed in with activities down at the beach.

More of a hotel than a resort, the Sofitel Sharm el Sheikh is definitely in our top 5 in the area. The standard here is superior to that of most resorts in Sharm el Sheikh. The atmosphere is calm and ideal for couples or guests looking for peace and quiet. The highlight of the hotel is its Horizon Bar which overlooks Naama Bay and its equestrian centre. The Sofitel may be one of the oldest hotels in Sharm el Sheikh, but the other resorts have a lot to learn from this establishment.

The Jaz Belvedere Hotel is easily one of Sharm el Sheikh best quality resorts. With its beautiful interiors and very well maintained exteriors, the Belvedere is more of a hotel than a resort. Directly on the beach, the hotel is small enough to retain intimacy and large enough not to feel claustrophobic after a week. The Belvedere is definitely one of our favourites.

An all-round good quality hotel compared to most hotels in Sharm el Sheikh. The extension of the Hilton Shark's Bay is neat and well maintained and is separate from the original part of the resort. There is also nothing Egyptian about the place; one could be anywhere in the world. This part of the hotel lacks in atmosphere but is relaxing and guests are guaranteed a fairly good quality room.
