Amy Adejokun Section editor

The Savita is one of the largest resorts of Sharm el Sheikh. It is rather non-descript; very little has been made with regards to style and decoration. The hotel building is enormous making the Savita one of Sharm's largest hotels. The site can feel a little cramped at times.

    Location 10.0 /10

Situated in Nabq Bay, the Savita beach faces the straits of Tiran, and is 5mins from airport and about 7 miles from the buzz of Naama Bay. The hotel is a first-line hotel and is therefore directly on its own beach.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

All rooms have a balcony or terrace and all are sea or pool- facing. The rooms have the necessary mod-cons such as individual air-conditioning control, cable and sat TV, mini bar (filled upon request at an extra cost), direct dial telephone line, wireless internet, Egyptian cotton linen and towels an, iron available upon request. Connecting rooms are available but the request must be placed at the time of booking. The rooms are of generous sizes as are the bathrooms which have bath tubs for the most-part. There is also a good selection of own-brand toiletries. There are also a couple of VIP suites up on the roof with great views of the ocean. The décor is however particularly uninspiring and very basic. The room-service menu must be requested at reception and comes at an extra cost.

    Overview 7.20 /10

The Savita is one of the largest of Sharm el Sheikh and its imposing size means there is very little intimacy and it is often noisy. The hotel has four floors and resembles a concrete block. The hotel lacks charm, its lobby looking more like a shopping mall for example. Guests are greeted by the first bar nestled just outside the lobby. Downstairs are the hotel pools which lead to the beach. The area around the main pool feels fairly cramped although it is pleasant. The pool is of a fair size and of a fun shape. There is also a quiet area pool. Sunbathing hours are however reduced due to the proximity of the hotel walls in some areas. There isn't much space for gardens either. An advantage of the resort is the bean-bag relaxation area on the lawn which lines the cliff tops along the beach. As for the interiors, the decoration is extremely dated and the furniture looks a bit worn. To start with the interiors are relatively nondescript. The spa is of a good size with a good range of facilities but needs to be freshened up, despite being operated independently of the hotel. There is however a nice size, well-equipped gym.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

As well as the main restaurant, which serves a range of food from pasta to oriental, there are also 'à la carte' Asian and seafood restaurants. There is also a steakhouse, and four bars: Piano Bar, Pool Bar, Patio Bar, Spa Bar. The canteen/main restaurant offers a buffet at every meal where the food isn't of great quality and can feel fairly repetitive. It is also extremely noisy and as uninspiring as the rest of the interiors. There is a kids' corner (for four kids at a time!).

    Beach 8.20 /10

The beach is a stretch of 700 meters over several rocky levels. The beach tends to be a little narrow with the sandy part fairly reduced, so it can feel a little cramped at times but overall it is a pleasant area. The jetty is also not very long, giving good and quick access to the water for snorkelers.

    To know

Open in 2006 with 536 rooms and a maximum capacity of 2000 guests, the hotel is one of the largest in Sharm el Sheikh. There is a clean and tidy kid's club. As in most resorts in the area, there is animation round the pool for most of the day and the animation team also puts on a show every night at the resort amphitheatre. There is a different show every night for a week before the programme repeats itself. The hotel welcomes British and Russian guests.

The Oriental Resort is a relaxing version of a large resort. Its gardens divide up the large concrete buildings making the stay more pleasant. There is a spa worth mentioning for its high quality treatments and good organisation. The Oriental is ideal for a week-long stay with the family or a group of friends. Couples may be seeking a little more peace and intimacy.

The Jaz Belvedere Hotel is easily one of Sharm el Sheikh best quality resorts. With its beautiful interiors and very well maintained exteriors, the Belvedere is more of a hotel than a resort. Directly on the beach, the hotel is small enough to retain intimacy and large enough not to feel claustrophobic after a week. The Belvedere is definitely one of our favourites.

This gargantuan complex is quite simply in a class of its own. You can take any aspect of the hotel, its rooms, its spa, its eateries, its views or its staff and you'll find everything is top draw. If it is top of the range you are after for in Sharm then you can't go far wrong in choosing the Royal Oasis, perfect for couples and families looking for the very best in service and facilities in a setting to die for.

One of the classier outfits in Sharm el Sheikh, the Royal Grand Sharm offers the complete package to guests looking for that little bit extra from their hotel. Perky staff, a beautifully kept environment and convivial atmosphere make this a natural choice for both couples and families. An all-round good quality hotel compared to most hotels in Sharm el Sheikh. The extension of the Hilton Shark's Bay is neat and well maintained and is separate from the original part of the resort. There is also nothing Egyptian about the place; one could be anywhere in the world. This part of the hotel lacks in atmosphere but is relaxing and guests are guaranteed a fairly good quality room.

The Oriental Rivoli is without doubt one of the classiest hotels in Sharm el Sheikh. Its sumptuous decoration must be the finest in the resort and all of its services exude quality, from its staff to its food. Best suited for couples or groups of friends, due to its lack of animation or a kids club, it is the perfect place for relaxation, reflection and rejuvenation. Recommended whole-heartedly by Easyvoyage!
