    Location 7.5 /10

On the lush mountainous island of Silhouette, (10 miles²), located 21 ft² north-west of Mahé. For the transfer from the airport, except one hour including 45 minutes by boat.

    Accommodation 8.95 /10

The 111 villas are distributed in 30 Garden Villas (947 ft² standard rooms), 63 Beach Villas (1,087 ft²) including 6 Beach Pool Villas (1,506 ft² with private swimming pool), 8 Mountain Pavilions (1,990 ft²), 9 Ocean Pavilions (1,990 ft²) directly on the beach, each of the pavilions has a private garden and a 215 ft² swimming pool and a small pavilion that is also used both for massages and a romantic dinner for two. Finally, the 8,070 ft² presidential villa is equipped with a private swimming pool. Beautifully decorated in a modern style, the rooms have a big king size bed, a satellite television with plasma screen and 40 channels and a DVD player (CD and films are available), a safe, separate air-conditioning and a ceiling fan, a mini-bar fridge with coffee and tea facilities, a telephone with fax and Internet connections, and a lounge area and a big terrace with a view of either the mountain or the sea. The spacious bathrooms have a big bathtub, a double basin, a big separate shower and an external shower in a small private garden. The toilets are separated, although the door and walls are transparent! Hairdryer, bathrobes and guest supplies are provided. All suites are connected to the one next to them, which is very practical for families.

    Overview 8.95 /10

Located between the turquoise lagoon and the mountain covered by primary equatorial forest, the 111 spacious suites of the Hilton Labriz Silhouette, opened in November 2006 by the Maldivian hotel group Universal Resorts, are spread over a large 2 mile long beach right up to the presidential suite. Situated at the edge of the estate, it is open onto a spa, located on a hill, in the middle of massive granite formations: an amazing and ideal site for relaxation. Several bars and restaurants surround the spacious swimming pool superbly illuminated at night in the middle of which there is a big Jacuzzi. A path flanked by palms snakes across the 4 ft deep pool equipped with deckchairs in teak and fitted with pads and parasols, thus separating the big pool from the small one. Facing the wharf is "La Maison Créole" in which there is a Creole restaurant that also serves as a tea room, a reading room, library, museum and art gallery; it has a panoramic view of the ocean. So now you see that the estate is rather vast and that moving around requires electric carts.

    Food and drink 8.95 /10

The Hilton Labriz Silhouette has over 5 restaurants which will fill all your desires: the main restaurant offers theme buffets or tables d'hôtes and regularly organises special evenings. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will savour a Japanese fusion cuisine at the Sakura, the Japanese Teppanyaki, located on a small island in the middle of a lake. It is an original concept that involves offering mixed grills on griddles, meat, fish, shellfish and fresh vegetables, prepared in front of you by a chef who, with a amazing dexterity, makes food spin in plates under the eyes of stunned dinner guests seating around the griddle. Portebello, the gourmet restaurant, run by an Italian chef , blends French and Italian cuisine. You can sit anywhere in the air-conditioned room or on the terrace by the lake and admire Mount Dauban. For enthusiasts of Creole cuisine, hurry to the big Creole hut, a trully historical monument dating back to 1860 but completely renovated, to sample dishes that you will not find anywhere else in the Seychelles, especially the spotted dogfish (gigantic bat) that is much loved by the Seychellois. In the afternoon, La miason Créole is transformed into a tea room where you can sample British scones and other muffins with tea. Finally, you will find a pizza oven near the swimming pool. Couples on their honeymoon may have a romantic supper in 3 kiosks specially preserved for them with caviar, spiny lobster, fois gras or carpaccio of truffe.

    Beach 8.20 /10

The 2 mile beach gives you the opportunity of sitting in a quiet place of your choice. However, only the area near the swimming pool offers wooden deckchairs equipped with pads and parasols, and a shower to rinse your body. North Island can be seen afar. We recommend you put on sandals when you go swimming as there are rocks and corals. Furthermore, swimming is difficult as the water does not rise above your knee for over a long stretch Situated near the beach not far from the hotel, the diving centre is the starting point for numerous discoveries. The Divemaster (PADI diving centre) is equipped with modern and complete equipment, even for night diving. Located 15 or 30 minutes away by boat, the spots are easy to reach. The marine geography along the island comprises gorgeous granite cliffs where corals thrive. You will be able to admire the many species of tropical fish among the 850 identified in the Seychelles waters.

    To know

Once on Silhouette island, a small electric cart will carry you across a village of 150 inhabitants comprising 25 families, before arriving at the Hilton Labriz Silhouette, labelled Small Luxury Hôtels of the World. Gym and aquagym classes are offered, and a yoga instructor offers private lessons. For lovers of nature, a botanist will help you discover the secrets of this protected island (the third largest in the archipelago), along these hiking trails rather unexplored for centuries, which sink into the equatorial forest covering the island's mountains ("Mount Dauban" is 2,427 ft high). According to an old legend, pirate Hodoul is said to have buried his treasure here... In an enclosure, you will find some giant tortoises about a hundred years old. Just close by, you will be able to admire the mausoleum belonging to the Dauban family, name of the proprietor of the island in the 19th century, and who lived in "La Maison Créole" at the time. The latter is currently one of the hotel's' 5 restaurants.

    Lodging advice

If you can afford it, you can book the presidential suite situated on the other side of the estate, near the spa. In any case, it would be a shame not to enjoy one of the 69 villas directly situated on the beach (60 beach villas and 9 ocean view pavilions). The 38 villas facing the mountain also offer a pleasant view. However, when you are on a virgin island such as Silhouette is, you will not fail to admire the Indian Ocean more closely. For those who enjoy the comfort of a swimming pool, 23 villas will totally fulfill your desires.
