Hotel Queens Hotel 3 star
Easyexperts
Queens Road St Helier, United Kingdom
Amy Adejokun Section editor

The Queens is a lively hotel, with few rooms, and well-maintained facilities. It is neither in the town centre nor by the sea, but it makes up for its lack of location with access to the pool of a partner hotel 820 ft away.

    Location 8.9 /10

In Saint-Helier, on Queen Road, 1,640 ft from the centre. The ferry landing is 1 mile away. The airport is 5 miles away. Allow 15 minutes to get there by car because of the traffic.

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

The rooms (36 in total) are like those of a townhouse hotel: rather small (130 ft² for the standard rooms) and no balcony. 10 of them have superior facilities, with a flat-screen TV and a DVD player. The furniture is in a matching style: plaited cord and light wood furniture. If possible, avoid the rooms directly overlooking the street: they are noisier than the others. The rest of the facilities include: tea/coffee making facilities (no minibar), direct telephone, bathroom with bath or shower, hairdryer and Spa Therapy welcome products.

    Overview 6.95 /10

Renovated in 2004, the Queens is a 3-storey building somewhat reminiscent of a ship. The ground floor is painted in deep blue like a ship's deck, and above there are several floors that look like chimney flues. Those who like a marine ambiance will come across the theme again in the interior decor: maps of boats in the games room, blue camaieu in the lounges, and a helm above the bar.

    Food and drink 6.20 /10

There is a restaurant in the hotel overlooking a patio painted in bright colours, but there are no outdoor tables. Open in the day and evening, it offers breakfast as a continental buffet (cereals, cheese, cold meats, bread and pastries); toasts, omelettes and bacon are served at the table. At dinner, the table d'hote menu offers a selection of starters or a soup, a main dish (meat, fish, vegetarian speciality) and a dessert. At lunchtime, snacks are available from the bar: sandwiches, soups, or salads. It is better to venture into town and try a small local restaurant.

    To know

Take the bus to get into town. There is a bus stop just in front of the hotel. Frequency: every 20 minutes during the day. Fare: £1. Those who prefer to walk can go through the little side streets to avoid the traffic on Queens Road and the Rouge Bouillon.

The Queens has a partnership with the Washington hotel, which has a heated outdoor pool. The residents of the Queens can use this pool for free. The Washington is on Clarendon Street, 820 ft from the Queens.
