Hôtel de la Poste dates from 1850. In the course of the last few decades, its architecture has been modified a lot. Today, this rich colonial residence has recovered some of its old charm, particularly since the beautiful vaults adjoining the large patio were uncovered in 2005. An interior garden, an outdoor staircase, banisters, vaults, etc, which you will explore floor after floor, add to the site's particularity, together with the use of building materials such as waxed concrete, mosaic, exposed bricks, tiles... Next to the reception, the Safari café adorned with painted bamboo and numerous hunting trophies won by the grand-fathers and great-grand-fathers of the present owners is the most typical part of the hotel. Either you like it or you don't! Although the location of Hôtel de la Poste is most attractive, it is regrettable that the café terrace is located directly on the square where all cars driving in and out of Saint-Louis Island pass. You have to leave the hotel and walk a few feet to get to the relaxation area with deckchairs and the restaurant "Flamingo", whose bar is open from 10:30 am to 2:00 am. Long and narrow, the largest swimming pool on Saint Louis Island lines the banks of the Senegal. Some trees shelter the whole street, which is actually not very lively.
