Although designed for a relaxing holiday in a friendly ambiance, the Floralys hotel is recommended for those wishing to discover La Réunion off the beaten track. The usually ignored south and east actually meet at the gates of the hotel.

Location

In Etang-Salé, 655 ft from the beach. Saint-Denis airport is 37 miles away. For the transfer, you should plan about an hour and three quarters or two hours and a quarter depending on traffic.
Accommodation
6.70/10
All 52 rooms overlook the gardens. Medium in size, they are simply furnished with a small desk in lacquered wood. The white walls, grey and white tiled floors, are brightened only with the lounge area with two sofas in shades of yellow, and a small painting on the wall. As for the equipment, the main appliances are there: air conditioning, telephone and satellite television. But the air conditioning definitely needs refurbishment, as do the lights, which are a little dusky. Each room has a bathroom with a shower, a terrace furnished with a plastic table and two plastic chairs. Choose the suites that are equipped with a fridge, a safe and a bathroom tiled in dark blue, which has a more attractive decoration, in shades of purple and off white with wall lamps.
Overview
7.20/10
Consisting of 12 villas scattered in a park planted with coconut trees, traveller trees and bougainvilleas, the Floralys, built in 1997, has space, quietness and scenery. Small but functional, the reception was conceived as a space where you do not waste time. The rattan lounge placed there serves more as a decoration than for practical purposes, anyway you will be eager to go to the swimming pool. Spacious, it is 4,305 ft². Its sinuous contours and gently sloping ramp on one side make it a little too difficult for long swims, but it offers the ideal setting for wading around. On the sun lounge, which matches the form of the swimming pool, plastic deckchairs and sunshades are installed. Sports activity enthusiasts may want to bounce the ball on one or two tennis courts.
Food and drink
7.00/10
Installed in a room along the swimming pool, the restaurant is also equipped with a large terrace decorated with exotic plants. A very pleasant ambiance in which you can dine. Served buffet style, breakfast is a classic selection of buns, pastries, cheeses, cooked meats, yogurt and fresh fruits. For lunch and dinner, meals are offered a la carte or on menu. Generally in the scope of traditional cuisine of the island, the meals are embellished with thematic (Chinese, Mediterranean) cuisines.
Beach
You can access the beach through the main street of the station and then along a side street lined with villas. After 655 ft, the lagoon comes into sight. The beach of Etang-Salé is certainly one of the most pleasant surprises on the island. Of volcanic origin, this beach is a beautiful cove bordered by exotic vegetation, black sand and sunlight, which burns feet quickly (much quicker than white sand) when at its height. At one end of the beach, fishing boats in multiple colours are moored. On the other side is a place where you can spread your towel and open your sunshade. You should take these with you, as the hotel does not provide them. As for water sports, you can dive nearby.
To know
The Floralys is located at in Etang-Salé, a small seaside resort in the south of the island. It is a good choice for a relaxing holiday, far from the bustle of Saint-Gilles, or as a base to set off on a tour along the coast or to the mountain peak of La Fournaise. Plan to rent a car if you want to be completely autonomous. The hotel provides adequate services for families with children.

The Domaine des Pierres is a hotel immersed in nature, situated in the heart of a botanical park, away from the tourist bustle of Saint-Gilles. It has got fine architecture, but quite erratic equipment. It will inevitably seduce the holiday-makers who are desperately seeking "green" in a quiet setting favourable for relaxation.

The brand new and very beautiful Palm Hotel and Spa is Reunion Island's new place to be. Perched overlooking the sea, it has all the style and uncluttered surroundings you would expect of a luxury hotel, the only downsides being that it is not right on the seafront and that it is best suited to a trendy, rather upmarket clientele. In a nutshell, this is certainly not the best place for families looking for a cool, no frills place to spend their holiday.

The Villa Morgan is a small village establishment; it only has 6 rooms and is full of charm. Despite the fact that children are not welcome, it manages to have a family atmosphere about it. Couples will find that it is the perfect place for a romantic get-away where all their needs are catered for. The only real snag is the proximity to the road, but it won't disturb your sleep at night so don't worry. What's more, the Buddha will keep a watchful eye on you!

The Villa Belle is a charming, luxury establishment that offers intimacy and resembles no other hotel. It is a small establishment run by a very friendly couple who have done all the work themselves and created this charming hotel, intended for couples looking for peace and comfort in an artistic setting where works of art are omnipresent.

Opened in 2013, the Lindsey is a city hotel located at the end of a small street in Saint Pierre, the main city in the south of the island. It central location as well as its charm and comfort are its best selling points. Sometimes used as a departure point for visiting the island by car or by bus, the hotel is not recommended for tourists looking for a beach holiday.
