Built in 1997, the Grand Formosa Taroko is composed of a red 3-floor building with 212 rooms served by 2 lifts. The establishment has a nice garden decorated with a fountain and a bridge. For your leisure, there is a concrete tennis court and two big swimming pools with an area of 150 m² (25m X 6m) and 4.27 feet deep one of which on the roof is not heated and the other one is indoor, heated at 27 C° with 2 pools for children. Towels are provided but it is mandatory to have a swimming cap, sold on site. The indoor swimming pool is open from 7 am to 12 am and from 1 pm to 10:30 pm; the midday closure is due to cleaning. Open from 7 am to 6 pm and up to 9 pm in July and August, the outdoor swimming pool is on the terrace of the 3rd and last floor. It is big and its water is from the river. You will find deckchairs and sunshades there. The Grand Formosa Taroko hotel also offers the nice Eldas spa, where delightful professional masseuses will perform an Indonesian massage with a relaxing effect ! You will find, among other things, a private jacuzzi for two people against a bay window which allows to contemplate the Taroko gorges, all while listening to a relaxing and melodic ambient music reminding the sounds of night insects. From 10 am to 11:30 pm, you can relax in the beauty area which includes a hot water pool with hydro-massage jets (heated at 40 C°) big enough to swim, a small cold water pool (22 C°), a sauna and a hammam. The water comes directly from the river. Leave behind your prudishness : you have to be naked to access this beauty area, open from 10 am to 11:30 pm. Finally, the fitness room, open from 10 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 10:30 pm allows to practice tai chi, kung fu and aerobic.

The 212 rooms of the Grand Formosa Taroko go from the standard to the suite, all offering a very good level of comfort regardless the category. Covered with tiles or fitted carpet, they are airy and offer a sober and plain contemporary design with no paintings or particular patterns. They include two separate beds or a king-size bed, a desk, a coffee table, a sofa, a huge free safe with electronic code, a satellite TV broadcasting around 20 channels, a discreet adjustable air conditioning, a fridge, supplies for tea and coffee and of course a telephone with wifi access and free ADSL connection. The room service is ensured from 10 am to 10 pm. A balcony arranged with table and chairs offers a splendid view of the river and the surrounding mountain. You will be relaxed by the sound of the river flowing at your feet. Those who do not like this natural melody will bring ear plugs. The hotel manager takes care of everything : you will also find a condom as well as sanitary towels. The bathroom is spacious, clean and well decorated. You have access through a wooden sliding door. It includes a large bathtub (a stool will help you in!) equipped with two grips and a flexible shower, separate shower, non separate toilets, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, elaborate welcome products, handkerchiefs, cotton buds, teeth brushing kit and shaving kit, comb, clothes drying line, telephone, scale, slippers and kimonos to relax after your bath. In short, it is pointless to take your toilet set with you ! A bay window at the back of the bathtub looks directly on your bed in the rooms upstairs. Two bottles of water are available free of charge. Constituted by a big room and a big lounge, the 9 suites also benefit from a big plasma screen, a double washbasin and separate toilets.

The Grand Formosa Taroko offers two restaurants. The Tien Hsiang Shnen serves a Chinese cuisine a la carte, with some aboriginal dishes at lunch and dinner. The Taroko restaurant offers a complete, generous, delicious and varied international buffet with many Asian dishes but also some aboriginal dishes using fresh and seasonal products. Do not hesitate to try a green tea waffle. You have the choice between knife, fork and spoon and the traditional chopsticks. A delicious breakfast is served from 7 am to 10 am, lunch from 11:30 am to 2 pm and dinner from 5:30 pm to 9 pm. To quench your thirst or drink to the holidays, the Tupido Lobby Lounge piano-bar is open from 10 am to 11 pm.

Forget the stress of big metropolis, the Grand Formosa Taroko is the only hotel of the Taroko Gorges national park, in the heart of a spectacular landscape. Not far from the hotel, 9 paths lead you to the discovery of a grandiose nature where you will feel very small! Improvised adventurers will feel like being Indiana Jones, walking on suspended bridges above the gorges, which are numerous in this natural park. The place is not very lively, but you do not go there to party. To enjoy your evenings, a very complete big playroom allows to play billiards, table tennis, bowling, videogames, coin machines as well as various other games you usually find at funfairs. There are also small electric motorbikes that children will love ! There is also a play area and a bubble pool. A shuttle will take you to Hualien City free of charge, the closest main town where there is a train station and a domestic-flights airport. The hotel offers many half-day or full-day excursions to the Taroko gorges. Open all year round, the Grand Formosa Taroko has 212 rooms for a total capacity of 550 guests. Just in front of the hotel there is a car park with a capacity of 146 cars. An aborigenal dance show is showed each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 pm to 9 pm.
