On the banks of the main canal and a few minutes from the entrance of Tortuguero national park, the Pachira Lodge stretches over 35 acres of lush greenery between two large canals. The lodge's amenities give you the opportunity to spend a few days in the heart of the jungle without a lack of comfort or activities.

The Pachira Lodge is located a 5 minute boat ride from the main entrance of Tortuguero park. Located in the north-eastern part of Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast, it is accessible from San José by road, then boat or by a 30 minute flight.
In the Pachira Lodge part, the 88 bedrooms are distributed across various large 4 to 6 room bungalows. Their nice features are the high ceilings, the ubiquitous wood, the cleanliness of the place and the view, through the mosquito nets, over the lush greenery on both sides of the building. Simply and identically decorated, the 40 m² bedrooms are mostly twins. The only fancy feature is the dim lighting concealed in ceramic turtles. The rooms are equipped with fans and fridges, but you need to go to the reception to find a telephone or a safe however. The large terraces have a water fountain. The bathrooms have a large shower and a soap dispenser. The Anhinge Lodge part allows more privacy because there is only one bedroom per bungalow (between 25 and 30 m²). Everything stands on stilts (bungalows and woodpath), which contributes to the undeniable charm of this part of the hotel in the heart of the jungle. Along both sides, some large openings, protected by mosquito nets, allow you to feel at one with nature.
Open since 1993, the Pachira Lodge has a large pontoon on the main canal, before the gate of the national park. In the distance, you can make out the small airport of Tortuguero. On arrival, you will see the majority of the communal areas, all built of wood and protected by the lush greenery. From the bar, from the two bird-shaped swimming pools, from the restaurant or even from the large and pleasant open-air but sheltered spa, guests can enjoy the view of the canal. A guide can take you for free on the small and winding footpaths across the dense vegetation and take a tour of the whole estate (allow 20 minutes). Beyond the communal areas are the accommodation buildings. The Pachira has a total of 88 bedrooms to which must be added 32 maisonnettes on stilts, laid out in a neat extension, built 3 years ago and called Anhinge Lodge. Kayaking and canoeing are available for free.
Food and drink
Sheltered, the main restaurant of the Pachira Lodge is open-air. All made of wood, it is divided into three parts, distinct from one another thanks to several levels. Protected by the jungle, the guests, 80 at the most, enjoy the panorama of the canal. The different buffets served during the day present national cuisine. Breakfast is served from 7 to 9am approximately, depending on the departure times for the exploration of the park. Lunch is served from 12.30 to 3pm and dinner from 7 to 9.30pm. A themed night is organized every week. There is a second buffet restaurant in the Anhinge part. For breakfast, the only Anhinge's guests can access it.
Tourists often come on a 3 day/2 night stay to make the most of Tortuguero national park's beauty. Most of the clientele is American and Spanish. A welcome cocktail is offered upon arrival. One part of one of the two swimming pools is designed for children. Free shuttles take you to the airport and for visits to the small village of Tortuguero.
Accommodation tip: The Anhinge area with bungalows on stilts is the chance for you to stay as close as possible to the jungle.
