    Location 6.0 /10

The Relais de la Reine is located on Isalo Massive, not far from Ranohira, on road 7, also called the Route du Sud, half way between Fiananrantsoa and Tulear.

    Accommodation 8.45 /10

The hotel has 30 rooms, 28 of which standard and 2 deluxe. The rooms overlook the garden. The standard rooms have no TV and no air conditioning, but they have a fan. No minibar, no telephone. They have a double bed with mosquito net, armchairs, closet and fine wooden desk. The lamps are made of raffia. The walls are covered with granite, the floor with parquet and the ceiling with rosewood paneling. You can also find black and white paintings on Madagascar. The bathrooms have shower and sandstone tiling cover. The deluxe rooms have air conditioning, chimney and bathtub.

    Overview 9.20 /10

Built in 1993 on a rock, the Relais de la Reine is a hotel with character and luxury perfectly included in a 98-acre oasis. A stony path takes us to the main chalet, equipped with a reception and a small bar. A welcome drink is offered: a karkade juice (wild flower from the hibiscus family). A balustrade overlooks the restaurant where you go through a rosewood staircase. The bar and the restaurant have marble floor. The bungalows gather 6 rooms each. They are made of granite. The Relais de la Reine has a swimming pool with a very nice solarium, tennis, petanque, football and basketball court and a riding centre.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

The restaurant is sober, covered with tiling and sandstone on the walls, decorated with wooden windows with a very high and large rosewood mansard ceiling. In the middle, a big central chimney made of stone, decorated with wooden sculptures representing musical instruments. The cuisine is Madagascan and international, inspired with exotism: crocodile mousse, chabis, ginger duck, sheep navarin, rum baba, mango pastry... The restaurant is known in the area. A la carte at lunch and menu at dinner are offered. The breakfast is very hearty and tasty. The wines are Madagascan, South African, Spanish and French.
