Two large disk-shaped sundecks are situated beside a pool covered with water lilies: the Four Seasons Ubud resembles the undercarriage of a UFO which has landed on the banks of the Ayung river, the main waterway of the Ubud zone. Constructed in March 1998, it consists of 54 rooms in one main futuristically-shaped building and private villas situated in a park. The entrance to the hotel is spectacular since the access is by way of a long footbridge overhanging a vast empty space. From the entrance, you may descend through the common areas: reception / restaurant, attractive fitness centre (with a bay window facing the valley) and a spa. Below, there is a nice overflow pool next to the bar / restaurant, near the watercourse. The establishment offers upscale facilities and attentive service. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, suitable for relaxation. The architecture is perfectly integrated into the landscape, despite its modern style. The well-appointed decor has an a-temporal charm, only the juxtaposition of the dark blue and yellow colours combined with teak wood seems sad in some respects.
