Inaugurated in 2006, the Barceló hotel was meant to be a 5 star hotel, but the management decided to limit it to a 4 star rating given the situation of the market at the time. You can rest assured then that the services and facilities are of a very high quality. The reception has a modern style inspired by industrial design, with large black leather armchairs, a wooden ceiling and an imitation marble floor, and although it resembles a cube, the hotel is actually L-shaped. The conference rooms are located on the first floor, whilst the spa, one of the most interesting parts of the hotel, is way up on the tenth floor. The spa itself boasts 3 treatment rooms, one for beauty treatments, a double room, and a thermal pool with hydromassage beds, an ice fountain and an essential oil shower. Make-up classes and wine and chocolate-based treatments are also offered, and if you've forgotten to pack your bathing suit, fear not, as there is even a swimsuit vending machine! Next to the spa you'll find the gym, open to all hotel guests, and whilst you won't find that many machines here, the room does overlook the City of Arts and Sciences.
