In Valencia's city-centre, the Hospes Palau de la Mar is a boutique hotel set in a 19th-century building. We really liked its restaurant surrounded by a terrace and a garden, as well as the spa offering 5 different specialities. An ideal place to stay to discover Valencia in a pleasant setting where well-being and gastronomy are part of the offer.

    • 200m from the Alamada metro station in Valencia's city centre, the Hospes Palau de la Mar is located at 14 calle Navarro Reverter, near the Turia Gardens. The airport is 9 mi away with a transfer time of around 20 minutes.

    • The contemporary decor featuring shades of chestnut brown (two armchairs, parquet flooring, wooden furniture, etc.) and white walls dominate the guest rooms, where an accent has clearly been placed on the modern boutique hotel aspect rather than the charm of the historical building. All of the rooms are different, ranging from the 25m² standards, the superior with a two-person sofa bed, the deluxe with a free-standing bathtub and a large separate shower, the junior suites with a living room and a terrace, to the 70m² presidential suite. Across the board, though, there is nothing negative to say about the comfort and the amenities, which include: a flat-screen television, a bench at the foot of the king-size bed, a minibar fridge (the items inside - notably crisps and olive oil - cost extra), discreet air-conditioning, a free Wi-Fi connection, 24/7 room service (with the menu placed on the wooden table), an iron and ironing board, and an electronic safe large enough to be able to store a laptop computer. The bathroom that closes with a sliding wooden door is equipped with a bathtub with a flexible showerhead, slippers and bathrobes, a hair-dryer, organic toiletries, a make-up mirror, tissues, and everything you need to brush your teeth! The toilet is in a separate room, with a bidet and a telephone.
    • A member of the Spanish Hospes hotel group, the Palau de la Mar is located in a historical 19th century building near Puerta del Mar, the gateway to the sea in Valencia, which is just 2.5 mi from the hotel. Opened in 2006, this palace by the sea contains 66 guest rooms in a 5-storey building served by two lifts but with its original staircase, parquet flooring and wood finishings. Also, the entire lobby is preserved in its original state! Once you move past the lobby you will find yourself in the charming and peaceful garden with its wooden terrace set up as a patio and a restaurant in the middle of it. Tomatoes, watermelons, herbs and aromatic plants all grow in the adjoining vegetable garden.
    • The Senzone restaurant, all the rage with the people of Valencia, has a separate entrance. It benefits from a very pleasant location with a terrace surrounded by a garden and a small vegetable garden that the chef uses the produce from in his cooking. Breakfast is served as a buffet from 7:30am to 10:30am (with freshly squeezed orange juice, of course), lunch from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, and dinner from 8:30pm to 11pm. The menu of the day costs £17 and the tapas menu £26. The local chef proposes Valencian cuisine with seasonal fruits and vegetables that come from the Mercado Central of Valencia. The restaurant can seat up to 40 diners, not including the seating available on the terrace in the garden. There is a great wine cellar here with choices from around the world. In addition, the lobby bar also serves as a cafeteria where you can get snacks from 10:00am to 1:00am.
    • A computer with free Internet access is available for guests to use and the whole building benefits from a free Wi-Fi connection. If you are coming by car, you can use the car park for a cost of around £22 per day. The hotel has 3 meeting rooms that can seat nearly 200 people. Room service is available 24/7. Two rooms have been adapted for guests with reduced mobility and there are several ramps. For leisure activities you will find a reading area, a gym and a television room.

This is one of the oldest traditional hotels in Valencia, and the facade and building are magnificent. The service is decent and the geographical location ideal, but the hotel's classic and rather unoriginal interior is a bit of a disappointment.

This urban hotel has the advantage of being a modern establishment that offers rooms for those with reduced mobility and that is close to the City of Arts and Science. This is the second largest hotel in the Confortel Aqua range and although it offers less in the way of services and facilities than its neighbour, it is nevertheless perfectly comfortable.

This 3 star hotel located in the Campanar region is not particularly noteworthy for its originality, or its modernity for that matter. The hotel has been open since 1984 and the guest rooms bear obvious witness to this. Having said that, it does have two advantages, namely the swimming pool and the rooftop terrace, which offers fine views across the town.

This is one of our favourites places in Valencia.

Located in an authentic Valencian seaside resort, the Las Arenas Hotel (the only 5 star luxury hotel in the region) has an amazing spa, both in terms of its history and of what it has to offer. Also worthy of mention are its state-of-the-art fitness centre and its restaurant, the Sorolla. It only seems natural that these fantastic assets have earned this hotel a spot in the prestigious Leading Hotels of The World.

The Holiday Inn Valencia is a great place for a city break in Valencia. You will have to walk a bit to reach the metro, the old town, the beach and the City of Arts and Sciences, but you will be able to enjoy a good breakfast here and be very comfortable. We recommend that you come between May and September, as the rooms can be a little cold in winter and the rooftop swimming pool is closed outside of this period. You will also appreciate the relaxed lounge bar on the sun terrace on the top floor.
