    Location 8.79 /10

The hotel is located in the heart of Valletta, on the place of access to the Old City, near the Baracca Gardens. You will thus be ideally located to stroll in the Maltese capital. Allow about 20 minutes to getl to the airport, which is located 3.7 miles away.

    Accommodation 5.95 /10

The hotel's 38 rooms are distributed on four floors. Each room features antique polished wooden furniture and a deep red carpet. Although they are air-conditioned and quite large, the rooms do not provide a high level of comfort since they are only equipped with telephones connection to the reception and a satellite television. The bathroom is very small indeed. Depending on the rooms, it will contain either a shower or a bathtub.

    Overview 7.20 /10

Opened in 1969, the Castille hotel is an old Maltese house from the 16th Century that has retained its charm as shown by the massive, heavy wooden doors, high ceilings and the old lampposts found in the lobby. The reception area, all in Maltese stone, is located in what used to be the main hall of the house. Hanging up above the desk is a traditional antique gilded clock, with a lovely face and a background painted with a bucolic scenery. To the left of the entrance, a small living room with exposed beams serves as a TV room. An elevator provides access to each of the building's six floors.

    Food and drink 7.95 /10

Although the restaurant leaves something to be desired, as it is the case with many places in Malta, the setting is quite fancy. The main restaurant, located on the top floor, boasts a panoramic terrace that circles the building and provides an unobstructed view of the fortifications of Valletta's Grand Harbour. Breakfast is served here, buffet-style. The hotel offers a lunch and dinner menu with Maltese specialities, including seven starters, five pasta dishes, seven fish options, 11 meat choices and four different desserts. The nice drink list includes an assortment of international wines, including about 20 French selections. Once a week, a Maltese theme party is organized with a special menu and two musicians playing the guitar and mandolin. Leave the roof and go down into the cellar ! Under beautiful stone vaults, you can find the hotel's pizzeria. A lovely setting for intimate dinners. Last but not least, the former stables have been converted into a small bar that opens directly on Castille square.

    To know

Despite the view and the luminosity, avoid taking one of the rooms overlooking the square because they are very noisy ( because of the traffic ). If you have no other choice, ask for one of the rooms with bow windows : such as 25 in the center, or 12 and 14, on each side.
