This small hotel is very well located, a few steps away from Saint-Mark's square. It is also located on the verge of a canal. As for its charm, it is very busy during the day- but at night, it becomes peaceful again. Ideal place for a first visit in Venice.

    Location 8.82 /10

On Campiello Barozzi, 330 feet from Saint-Mark's plaza (San-Marco neighbourhood).
    Vaporetto stop: Vallaresso.
The airport is located 8 miles away. Take the boat (Aliguna) from Saint-Mark's plaza. Expect a 35-minute trip.

    Accommodation 6.95 /10

The 29 rooms are quickly filled. Among the rooms, you will find ''standard'', ''superior'' and ''superior rooms with view'' (of the di San Moise canal or of a yard). No single rooms and most of the triple rooms (except for 3 of them ) are double with an additional bed. 2 quadruple rooms also. Don't expect too much space, 13 feet long and 13 feet wide (in average), the rooms quickly fill up when there are two people. If a third person is there, you should be careful to control your movements... Otherwise, the new bedspread is not really supple (contrary to the habits of the Venetian middle scale hotelier industry - still in force today). The decoration includes colours (red, golden), fabrics (brocade) and typical furniture (Murano glass chandeliers, mirrors on the walls). The facilities offered: TV, air-conditioning, a minibar and a telephone. The bathrooms have a bathtub (in 3 rooms) or a shower and a hair-dryer. Welcome products with the hotel's name.

    Overview 7.45 /10

A 3-level building with Mediterranean notes (wooden blinds, yellow facade), the Violino d'Oro occupies an area of a public square on the verge of a small canal, from where gondolas depart. You will enjoy the setting of Venice that looks like a postal card, very crowded with tourists, but only from 10 AM until 10 PM. You will sleep peacefully, and those who want to see Saint-Mark's plaza during sunset just have to walk a little. In return, the hotel doesn't offer much space: a small reception (2 chairs), a bar counter fitted out at the back of the reception, a breakfast room next to the bar... That's all. You can stay at the hotel, you can even eat here in the morning, but there is nothing else to do around here.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

The restaurant only serves breakfast. On one side, the room overlooks the San Moise canal: but you can't see a thing, because of the curtains. The buffet does not offer hot dishes. However, you have a wide selection of cold cuts, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruits, viennoiseries and bread rolls. You eat ''all together'', because the room is very small and the tables are very close to one another. After breakfast, the bar serves drinks. Go outside the hotel, but avoid the streets around Saint-Mark's plaza: you will pay a lot for the good quality. A very good destination: the restaurants on campo Santa Margherita, in the Dorsoduro district (a 20-minute walk from the hotel).

    To know

    The hotel is entirely non-smoking.
It is located in a small plaza (''campiello'') that opens toward a canal adjacent to the Great Canal. The ''canal view'' rooms overlook the canal, not the Great Canal.
The sundeck located at the top of the building belongs to the junior suite. When the junior suite is not occupied, you can stay on the sundeck. Otherwise, it is reserved for the clients of the suite.
    Lodging advice
Since the hotel is only 2 minutes away by foot from Saint-Mark's plaza and with no view of the Great Canal, you will stay in a standard room. This type of room is as spacious as the others, but less expensive.
Be careful with the triple rooms: most of them are double rooms fitted out with an additional bed. Or, 172 feet² for 3 , which quickly becomes tiny.

A hotel with very good services and, like most of its neighbours, with a sundeck overlooking the Great Canal. But the prices are more affordable here, because the establishment is a 4-star local norms hotel. For the accommodations, because the restaurant still has the prices practiced in the Venetian palaces. The quality also, even if the recipes are as old as the city of Doges.

A small hotel with a Venetian charm, well located if you want to explore the surroundings of Saint Mark and Rialto. Rooms do not offer any view, but the breakfast room that overlooks a small canal, offsets this inconvenience a little.

Great arrival in private boat (or taxi-boat) on the lagoon, or more modest, through one of the bridges spanning the della Madonna dell Orto canal. You can get here in a great train: quality ambiance and services. The only bad part: Saint Mark's plaza is quite far away.

The Boscolo Venezia is a quiet luxury hotel set in a very pleasant district of North Venice. Far from the other palaces of the city, slightly tucked away, this hotel has one of the most superb gardens in Venice. For those who can afford it, it is one of our favourite top-end hotels. It may be a bit far from the city centre, but we strongly recommend it if you have a few days to make the most of the city.

This luxury addess offers a privileged location in Giudecca Island, in an amazing historical ambiance (old religious boarding school). Tranquility and untouchable view of the Doge's palace, on the other side of Saint-Mark's basin. Be careful, however, the austere architecture will not please everybody.

The Saturnia International is both a traditional and designer hotel with a perfect location in Venice.
