A beautiful hotel to keep in mind for its bedrooms and location - in the heart of historic Vilnius. All of the old city is accessible on foot from the hotel. It is cosy, with decoration typical of the area, especially on ground level and underground, but make sure that you do choose a room according to your taste. Note that you will be charged extra to go to the gym: take it or leave it, depending on your budget and your holidaying habits.

    Location 9.67 /10

The hotel is at 24 Pilies Street, Old Vilnius's main street, leading up to the Gate of Dawn.
The airport is 5 mi away. Allow a journey time of 15 to 20 minutes.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

50 bedrooms and suites are distributed across the 3 floors of the Narutis. They look out over the street (it is the most interesting view), to a backyard converted into a car park and planted with greenery (it may sound ugly but it isn't) or to the light shaft and the panoramic lift in the centre of the lobby (avoid this, even if the French windows open to a balcony with flowers in pots, because, as soon as you open the door, you will find yourself in the hotel, or even above it, with no way out). As for the surface area, the standard rooms offer 172 sq ft; the deluxe and suites are a little more spacious. The furniture layout, the colour of the upholstery vary from one room to another, but some features remain the same everywhere: varnished wood, of semi-classical style. Almost every room has a bathtub in the bathroom (except for 6 of them, which are equipped with a shower). Hair-dryer, bathrobes (on request in the standard rooms), hospitality products (in increasing number in correlation with the category of room). The rest of the facilities include a mini-bar, satellite TV, a telephone and air-conditioning.

    Overview 8.70 /10

Open since the mid-1990's, the Narutis perpetuates the tradition of the hotel business at 24 Pilies Street, since there was already an inn at this address in 1581. You will therefore notice the façade, with exposed bricks on the ground level and low rounded arched windows. The interior decoration is a blend of old and modern styles, and as the place is relatively small, there is a priority given to lighting effects. Hence the veranda-roof on top of the three floors, on the level of the lift shaft, itself fitted with glass panes. You can therefore see everywhere from everywhere, without benefitting, unfortunately, from a view of the outside: this is the downside of the location of this hotel, in the heart of the historic district. As far as the layout is concerned, a lounge can be found by the side of the entrance door. The gym, spa and well-being centre are located underground: no view of the outside here either, the building did not allow it (the story goes that it used to be 2 buildings, and a narrow street on the level of the present patio).

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

The main restaurant is set up in 3 underground rooms, one of which is used for the breakfast buffet. The ambiance is typical of the region (vaulted walls with exposed brick and old-style furniture) which makes up for the lack of windows. All sorts of tasty things are available for breakfast: marinated salmon, served with sparkling wine, cold cuts, scrambled eggs or an omelette, pancakes (savoury, with cheese, or sweet), yoghurts, chopped fresh fruit, cereals, bread rolls, home-made pastries. A la carte lunch and dinner, in the same setting, with Lithuanian and international specialities. You may prefer the restaurant-café located on ground floor, because it has a sheltered terrace on the street. A la carte dishes here too: try the stroganoff beef for example, or the veal escalope with mushrooms.

    To know

It is a real shame that you have to pay extra: because it is well designed, decorated with golden mosaic friezes, has a swimming pool (108 sq ft) with a massaging fountain, a whirlpool bath, a sauna and a steam room. It is up to you to see if all this is worth £16.70 (entrance fee per person).
    Accommodation tip
The design and furniture is different from one bedroom to another: if you like loft rooms, request 3rd or top floor accommodation. A cosy and loft-style room, with light coming from the average sized windows, the view is a little restricted however (because of being under the roof). If you are looking for a quaint place, book suite n# 134, among others: the bed is topped with a canopy, there is a Venetian mirror on the wall, a few steps from the bedroom to the lounge, a private hammam in the bathroom. However, avoid: the 10 bedrooms looking out to the light shaft above the reception (due to the noise rising from the reception and the lack of view to the outside).

If you like books, non-standardised bedrooms, warm atmospheres, wooden flooring and wood panelling, the Shakespeare Hotel is the place for you. Located in Vilnius Old Town, surrounded by old buildings... The English-style interior decor is not very local, but it is typical: enthusiasts take note!

This is one of the most appealing hotels in the historical centre of Vilnius. It has few bedrooms but offers high-quality facilities and service, a pleasant layout (with a covered winter garden) at any time of the year, relaxation facilities and a very good à la carte restaurant... You are advised to visit the Stikliai before everyone else does - you won't go wrong and it won't cost the earth: part of the Relais et Châteaux chain of hotels, it has a local feel and is full of charm.

A central location, a historical building, a fine setting in the Old Town of Vilnius... The Radisson SAS, along with several other hotels in the Lithuanian capital, offers all of the above. So why stay here instead of somewhere else? To swim - but of course - in the swimming pool (or lounge in the whirlpool bath) for no extra charge. To enjoy a generous breakfast after sleeping (preferably) in one of the superior rooms or suites, as the standard rooms and their bathrooms are not very spacious.

A central location, "boutique hotel" (but not contemporary) style decor, a fitness centre with free entry in the early morning, and different categories of rooms, the most spacious of which can accommodate families. The Ramada is a good choice if you wish to enjoy the quality of service offered by a hotel chain while staying in a unique setting.

Very well located, on the main road through the historic district of Vilnius; a historical building, most of the rooms overlook the old town, one of which is a new, round-shaped suite; a restaurant that absolutely must be tried, particularly in the summer, when the tables are put outside. The Europa Royale is a good choice of accommodation, even if the soundproofing is not up to the standards of a contemporary building.

This is an address for those with an "average budget" (as this is no youth hostel), very well situated for discovering the historical centre of Vilnius on foot, adapted for families or groups of friends, and meticulously well kept; but with simple comforts and ancient corridors resonating at the slightest noise. Recommended for a night or two, and to those who have nothing against old convents.
