A central location, a historical building, a fine setting in the Old Town of Vilnius... The Radisson SAS, along with several other hotels in the Lithuanian capital, offers all of the above. So why stay here instead of somewhere else? To swim - but of course - in the swimming pool (or lounge in the whirlpool bath) for no extra charge. To enjoy a generous breakfast after sleeping (preferably) in one of the superior rooms or suites, as the standard rooms and their bathrooms are not very spacious.

    Location 9.69 /10

On Did?ioji 35/2, the main road of the Old Town of Vilnius.
The airport is 4.5 mi away. Allow 15 or 20 minutes for the journey.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The 119 rooms are divided between the standard category, superior (business) category and suites. Being an old building (built in 1901), the rooms are not all the same size. Some standard rooms measure just 130 to 160 sq ft. If you are looking for as much room as in a 5-star hotel (local standards), you should consider booking a superior room. The decor will be a similar "contemporary classic" style (with a touch of art nouveau), with varnished wooden furniture, striped beige wallpaper, and drapes to match the bed-spreads. As far as facilities are concerned, the various categories differ in terms of the tea/coffee-making kit (only provided in the superior and suite categories) and the bathroom (the suites have a shower and bath, whereas standard and even superior rooms have a bath or a shower, depending on the available space). What about the other amenities? The basics are all covered: a television with 20 channels, a telephone, mini-bar, air conditioning, and safe. There is also a hair-dryer and Radisson hospitality products (in 20 ml containers) with uplifting aromas. In the suites there are also 50 ml bottles of Kräuter Kur products containing plant extracts - a nice touch.

    Overview 8.45 /10

It is in a 4-storey baroque building, set among other buildings of a similar style. If you have been to the Mala Strana district in Prague, you may experience a sense of "deja vu"... Once over the threshold, you find yourself in a setting that features baroque, art nouveau and modern art decor, all at the same time but without being excessive. If you ignore the finer details, the term "contemporary classic" comes to mind. There is a feeling of space, due to the white walls. Once you have checked in, get your swim suit out. Head for the indoor fitness area and its 23 x 13 ft swimming pool, whirlpool bath (no extra charge), and deckchairs to lounge in after a few strokes, or after using the gym machines in the same room (some kind of partition would not go amiss).

    Food and drink 7.95 /10

Located beyond the reception area is the dining room of the "Belle Epoque" restaurant. Its walls are decorated with paintings in the art nouveau style, leather seats running the length of the tables, and white tablecloths. A veranda makes the room wider (and brighter), and in summer there is a terrace outside the veranda, next to the street. There is a varied breakfast buffet with gourmet (smoked salmon), organic (spelt bread), vegetarian (soya milk) and indulgent options: home-made pastries and Viennese pastries, as well as scrambled eggs, cooked ham, and fresh and stewed fruits. Lunch and dinner are served "a la carte". Why not try a Lithuanian dish like the pork cutlet with carrot and cranberry sauce. However, international recipes, like saffron seafood, are also on offer. If you miss breakfast on Sunday, you absolutely must have brunch to the sound of an orchestra. As it is very popular, it is worth booking in advance.

    To know

As the Radisson SAS Astoria is located on the corner of a square it shares with the town hall (a baroque monument), you are advised to ask for a room overlooking the street. The view is nicer than on the courtyard side, where you may feel hemmed in by the surrounding buildings. About 40 % of the rooms overlook the street. Noise will not be a problem, as the rooms are well soundproofed.
    Accommodation tip
Do you feel like a few added extras in a room better than the others? In this case, book suite 319: it has a private sauna, and its colonnade balcony overlooks the town hall and the rest of the square.

This is one of the most appealing hotels in the historical centre of Vilnius. It has few bedrooms but offers high-quality facilities and service, a pleasant layout (with a covered winter garden) at any time of the year, relaxation facilities and a very good à la carte restaurant... You are advised to visit the Stikliai before everyone else does - you won't go wrong and it won't cost the earth: part of the Relais et Châteaux chain of hotels, it has a local feel and is full of charm.

Very well located, on the main road through the historic district of Vilnius; a historical building, most of the rooms overlook the old town, one of which is a new, round-shaped suite; a restaurant that absolutely must be tried, particularly in the summer, when the tables are put outside. The Europa Royale is a good choice of accommodation, even if the soundproofing is not up to the standards of a contemporary building.

If you like books, non-standardised bedrooms, warm atmospheres, wooden flooring and wood panelling, the Shakespeare Hotel is the place for you. Located in Vilnius Old Town, surrounded by old buildings... The English-style interior decor is not very local, but it is typical: enthusiasts take note!

A beautiful hotel to keep in mind for its bedrooms and location - in the heart of historic Vilnius. All of the old city is accessible on foot from the hotel. It is cosy, with decoration typical of the area, especially on ground level and underground, but make sure that you do choose a room according to your taste. Note that you will be charged extra to go to the gym: take it or leave it, depending on your budget and your holidaying habits.

This is an address for those with an "average budget" (as this is no youth hostel), very well situated for discovering the historical centre of Vilnius on foot, adapted for families or groups of friends, and meticulously well kept; but with simple comforts and ancient corridors resonating at the slightest noise. Recommended for a night or two, and to those who have nothing against old convents.

A central location, "boutique hotel" (but not contemporary) style decor, a fitness centre with free entry in the early morning, and different categories of rooms, the most spacious of which can accommodate families. The Ramada is a good choice if you wish to enjoy the quality of service offered by a hotel chain while staying in a unique setting.
