Standing just a few hundred metres away from Carthage Land amusement park, the Lella Baya hotel seems to have been designed by the same architect. The decor may therefore seem as if it were made out of paper mache but the amenities are nothing to be ashamed of: a large thalassotherapy centre, a wide choice of activities, large outdoor and indoor pools, etc. All of this just a few metres away from the beach. This hotel is perfect for small and big children alike!

Standing in the tourist area of Yasmine Hammamet, just a few metres from the new Medina, the Lella Baya is blessed with a very convenient location, some dozens of metres away from the sea. Transfer time from Tunis airport is around 45 minutes, whilst Monastir airport is around an hour away. You might also be interested to know that the hotel is 2.5 mi from the Citrus and Yasmine golf clubs.
Despite its gigantic dimensions, the hotel 'only' holds 245 guest rooms and suites. You would therefore expect very spacious lodgings, but the area of the double rooms only reaches 28m² at most. The furniture blends in with the Berber style of the hotel (a chest, olive-wood pieces, closets typical of the area, vaulted ceilings, etc), but the tartan bed sheets are so malapropos! The decor is original at least, whether you like it or not. As for amenities, the presence of a fridge and a safe (a fee applies), in addition to the telephone, television, and central air conditioning, is quite a bonus. The cave style of the bathrooms is worth a special mention, since it clearly stands out from the classic decors found in other hotels. For amenities they have: hospitality products, a bathtub, a hair dryer, and a separate toilet. Note that the rooms with a view of the sea are subject to a surcharge.
In spite of its castle-like appearance, the Lella Baya was actually designed as a Berber village, although you won't find any ksars or little cave dwellings there, but simply one 4 storey building. Several of the decorative features do immerse visitors into the nomadic life of Southern Tunisia though: character sculptures, paintings representing scenes of local life, a reconstructed well, and a huge wellness centre carved out of the rock. The spa is equipped with 22 treatment booths, a herbal tea lounge, a swimming pool with a seawater course, and a real beauty salon. Two lifts will take you directly up to your room without having to go through the lobby in your swimsuit or bathrobe! If you are afraid of heights, you should definitely give this hotel a miss, since the corridors are open to the ground floor. Activities are a-plenty, but the choice of sports is limited to tennis (rackets are available for a fee), boules, table tennis, or beach sports.
Food and drink
The Lella Baya isn't considered as a club, in spite of its size, which means that it isn't possible to stay on an all-inclusive basis. Accommodation options do range from lodging-only to full board though. Four catering options are available: the beach bar and the pool barbecue in high season, in addition to an à la carte and a central restaurant all year round. No less than 7 different theme nights are organised at the central restaurant: French, Tunisian, Spanish, Italian, Mediterranean, fish, and gala. Two other theme nights are due to make an appearance: Mexican and oriental. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there is even an extra buffet for latecomers... or guests who simply like to eat late! Two rooms make it possible for 600 guests to eat at the same time. It is worth noting that despite the theme, one or two Tunisian specialities are available at each meal. Feeling a little thirsty? Just head for the lobby bar, or the huge and lovely Moorish cafe, open to the lobby.
A road runs between the hotel and its fine sand beach bordered by crystal clear water. The comings and goings of guests are monitored by a guard, who takes care not to let any non-residents into the area. It may not be huge (as opposed to the facilities), but the beach of the Lella Baya is beautifully maintained. Thatched parasols, plastic deckchairs, mats, a Moorish cafe, a Tunisian tent... Everything is set up as soon as the weather permits. Keep in mind that the beach is patrolled from 9:00am to 8:00pm from May to October.
Open since 2002, the Lella Baya became part of the Vincci group in 2006. There are 3 other hotels that belong to the same group, including the Flora Park, which re-opened in 2010 after 4 months of renovations. Although there is no particular focus on the entertainment (a team of 2 to 6 members), numerous activities are available: games, tournaments, aerobics, shows, Arabic lessons, etc.

New hotel of good standing, the Saphir Palace is a good choice to spend some holidays close to the beach without sacrificing comfort. To recommend also to go to the casino and discover the attractions of the Medina of Yasmine without having to rent a car.
A hotel for young people who like to party late. Families won't feel comfortable, the tourists who came to rest will leave even more tired than before and the English will have to use their Spanish. Room for the young!
Built in 2000, this modern hotel is an ideal spot for a pleasant holiday in one of the main tourist districts of Hammamet. Although it does not have direct access to the beach, it does offer all the facilities you would expect to find in a large beachside hotel.
A modern hotel that does not deserve its 5-star category. Even though the nmerous entertainment will please the children and the parents and that the beach is close by, you should not expect great luxury. This is why Easyvoyage takes two stars away from it but recommends it to families wanting to have fun and rest at low cost.
The high class of this hotel, different from the big buildings without charm located along the coast. Here, refined decor, elegant staff, discrete entertainment, and fine dining attract couples and small families looking for calm and relaxation.
This is a 4 star hotel that doesn't deserve more than 3, not only because of the appearance and the condition of the rooms, which are simple and not luxurious, but also in terms of the food, where variety and quality are rare. However, the establishment remains affordable and perfect for those who want to spend a few relaxing days by the sea without spending too much or expecting too much in terms of services.
The Diar Lemdina hotel stands out among the other establishments in Hammamet. It's tucked away in the heart of the new medina of Hammamet, thus making you feel like a local resident of the town. Despite being modern, the hotel does not lack detail. However, this location also means that you'll have to put up with the noise usually present in the medina, i.e. loud music, constant background noise, etc.

Having opened in April 2010, this hotel is on a mission to give the luxury hotel sector both in Tunisia and abroad a new image, a far cry from the bling-bling luxury of certain other establishments.
