Denpasar, the "capital" of the island with 400,000 inhabitants, is above all an administrative centre, and has a modern cachet, being quite far away from the seaside universe. It is, however, pleasant to visit its markets, notably Pasar Badung, together with the commercial thoroughfares of the town centre.
