Our Editorial team's advice

Chieti is located to the right of the Pescara River, surrounded by mountains and close to the Adriatic Sea, and is a small city of barely more than 50,000 inhabitants. Traces of the former Teate, the Roman name for the city, are visible here and there within the historic centre, though partially concealed by the more modern buildings. Remember, too, that no visit to Chieti would be complete without visiting the relics of the three 1st century temples and the ancient theatre. Other sites of interest include San Giustino Cathedral, built in 840 and modified at various stages throughout history, and the neo-Classical Marrucino Theatre.
