Situated in the northeast of Italy, Emilia-Romagna is able to offer, thanks to its geographic location, a variety of panoramas from sea to mountain. A region of contrasts, the Romagna coast lends itself well to lazy days as well as sporting activities whereas in the Apennines parks and natural reserves are the order of the day. Culture is all around too with Verdi, Pascoli and Fellini. From the top of the Torre degli Asinelli with its 498 steps one can enjoy sweeping views of the city of Bologna. Further afield, Ferrara, a UNESCO-listed city, and Comacchio, which reminds of Venice, also captivate. Along the Adriatic are the Marina di Ravenna, Rimini and Riccione. Emilia-Romagna also has a whole host of culinary specialities of which they are very proud and which are worth the trip in themselves: parmesan, Parma ham, vinegar from Modena.
