To the south of Sardinia, the Barbagia has spectacular mountains that drop in cliff faces to the foot of the Oliena. There are several paths to help you explore the region, that weave in and around the vines. Go to Del Cedrino lake, for example, close to Dorgali village, before heading for the Orosei Gulf National Park. The road runs through forests of cork oaks and laurels. It is at the Genna Silana pass that you will have the best views. On top of this, if you go to Cala Luna at the edge of the gulf you will find a complex of six impressive and fascinating caves.
