Wasini is an island that forms part of an underwater nature reserve that visitors can explore with scuba diving apparatus or simply a mask and snorkel. The island is home to a small village of about 600 inhabitants which has, among other things, developed a program to enable young women to study in order to attend university.
A day excursion to the island begins with a sail boat outing to a good diving location. Next, take lunch at Charlie Claw's, a small outdoor restaurant serving seafood including grilled fish and excellent crab with an extraordinarily delicate flavour, fresh from the mangrove. Finally, you can visit the local village and go for a wander in the nearby coral garden.
